A meteor is on a collision course with earth projected to wipe out all life. In Slough, England, meek bank manager Jamie Winton is arrested for hacking. He's released and realizes that he has an unknown identical twin Ariel out there. Also his long lost wife Layla is last seen with Ariel. He goes searching for Layla with the help of his friend Dave Bosley. In New Mexico, meek librarian Rhonda McNeil (Jenna Fischer) is arrested for hacking the government. In reality, she's taking the fall for her son. Her brother Scotty works for the President and is unwilling to help. In prison, she has an uneasy relationship with crazy white supremacist Leanne Parkins (Megan Mullally). Ariel breaks her out of prison believing her to be the hacker. At the Vatican, Father Jude (Rob Lowe) is the Devil's Advocate for the church. He takes Sister Celine on a journey to disprove the various claims of a new savior. There are 34 days left and many of these people will end up together at the crucial time.I want to like this quirky end-of-the-world show a bit more. The Fischer Mullally pairing has some weird fun. The problem there is that they keep getting separated. Rob Lowe is weirdly compelling. The sexual tension adds to his story. The secret twins slowly lose me after awhile. I'm not familiar with Mathew Baynton but he does a good job with duo roles. The scattered story does scatter the tension around. It's also very noticeable that the American story is not filmed in America. This is a show of some ups and downs. There are some nice quirky fun but I would have liked more.

Starting out I'd like to say that I have never been more obsessed with a show than this. It is filled with great performances and a interesting storyline that never gets old. I've seen every episode at least twice. The show stars Mathew Baynton as the main character named Jamie and his twin brother Ariel who has been jealous of him his entire life because his mothers story of how he left him in a church parking lot because he was the son of God and deserved better. Ariel sets up a program called Doofus which transfers all of his crimes over to Jamie. He's also wants revenge on him because he stole his x-wife from him and he still loves her. Jamie finds this out on the day of the apocalypse that he is adopted has a twin and Layla his wife might be with his brother. He sets out to find her and along the way finds his mom his dad (Father Jude another character in the series) They soon end up together and Ariel tries to stop it and get her back before the world ends along with Jamie's daughter Frankie. Father Jude and sister team up to find false messiahs before the second coming of Chirst but fall in love along the way. There romance gets troubled though when Jude is given the option of choosing her or the priesthood. Before he could respond she joins the sisterhood again. Jude hands one of the sisters a note from him telling her that he left the preset hood but Sister Celine receive the note too late and Jude thinking that she Doesn't love him any more hangs himself and she finds him and breaks out in tears. At the end she finds out that she is pregnant with his baby and is going to see him soon in heaven. Another character on the show is Ronda McNeil who is accused of hacking into the governments website but really is covering for her son. She soon escapes with another in mate and soon gets to see Scooty again but nearly gets caught but cops are pulled away because Scotty her brother and the leader of the governments apocalypse section made a fake phone call. He is soon arrested and has to get out to attempt to save the world and is forced to give away the location of his sister. He later sobs with his husband another government worker because he gave up his sister because of a plan that never worked. At the very end everyone races to the bunker and and Jamie in an attempt to help a guy with his car he is knocked out by his brother and he steals his clothes. Jamie is left to die with Rhonda's dying husband who was giving up his life because he was sick and Ariel finished the car job to close the door with the car because the door was stuck. Jamie states that he is who his bother is pretending to be but Rhonda's husband Ranjeet says that its too late and Ariel gets his wife and the bunker despite his brother being the son of God. It was a rather disappointing end and even worse that there's not going to be a second season of show if because Jamie is the son of God than he might be able to survive. Any way it's a great show besides the twist at the end of the very last episode. I strongly recommend it still to anybody. This show proves that a show about the apocalypse Doesn't need zombies.

OK so its the end of the world, some people are going crazy most aren't.. like cops who are determined to arrest an escaped fugitive who hasn't really done anything, but accused of hacking NSA.. but the NSA didn't hire her?! because I'm pretty sure thats what they would do in that situation, then one of the only guys that can save the world gets arrested and he has to convince the police to let him go so he can indeed save the world.. ugh.. ya maybe in world run by children this would happen. its just sloppy and poorly written.. if one of the few people that could save the world killed someone in actuality he would be let go immediately, in fact I'm sure he would never be allowed to leave a room or go home and sleep, like they seem to do a lot of in this show.. seriously this show is in no mans land.. its not a comedy, not drama, not sci-fi it's all of the above, and thats the problem!! if you want to have huge gaps in the plot and story, and try to sell the audience unbelievable things then you have to pick A Category! if this was a comedy i would over look the fact that pretty much everyone is related in one way or another, if it was a drama i would ignore the lack of comedy, and if it was a sci-fi i would ignore the lame drama... but its none of the above. and what you have served me is a Shat sandwich.. its not going down.

I don't usually watch sit-coms because of the way they consist of dialogues clearly written by jokewriters, so I find it hard to get "into" them - I can see the "wizard behind the curtain." But the title and theme of this caught my attention. I wondered how this could possibly work as a comedy. I was pleasantly surprised to find that somehow or other, it is very engaging. It may not be a documentary about what would really happen as "the end" approaches, so I stopped assessing whether or not there was any realism. Instead I enjoyed the strange combination of humor and pathos too, some of it almost cringe-inducing (for example with regard to SPOILER SPOILER the banker's pining over his vanished wife, who is informed she's been seen with his twin (when he hadn't been aware of one). And the cast is also very engaging; even though the structure includes jumping around a lot in location and storyline, the characters held my attention, i.e. I wanted to know what happens to them. I attribute this to excellent casting, acting and writing. I have only seen the first episode and am looking forward to more.
