Synopsis

Wrestling Society X was a short-lived professional wrestling-based television series produced in 2006 by Big Vision Entertainment. The weekly television series formerly aired on MTV, MTV2, MTV Tr3s, and over a dozen other MTV outlets throughout the world. WSXtra, an extra program featuring WSX matches and interviews not broadcast on television, was available on the promotion's MTV website and Video on Demand. WSX was presented as a secret society of wrestling that used a venue referred to as the WSX Bunker, complete with an artificially worn-out looking ring for its matchups. In matches held within this venue, falls count anywhere was the stipulation. The program also stood out due to its unorthodox approach to pro wrestling; this included frequent use of highly expressive plants, crowd sound effects, electrical sound effects, visual effects, and camera shaking when a wrestler would fall prey to electrical weapons. Along with wrestling, WSX featured musical guests playing at the start of each television broadcast, with some band members joining the broadcast team after the performance.

Reviews

CrassActionHero How about that? MTV delivers onto us new wrestling. Here is the review:This rules! Of all the things I despise about MTV, who knew that MTV would be useful? Get ready folks, Wrestling Society X is out for blood! We got some intense action with over the top violence to boot. The talent roster has on tap: Vampiro, 6-Pac, Justin Credible, New Jack, and many others to shine. We got here is some WRESTLING! The explosions in the battle royal were over the top but the energy was intense. The announcer introduced the wrestlers like a maniac instead of a regular ring announcer which was nice and is similar to the original ECW! Never would I thought in my wildest dreams would I be excited to tune in to MTV! This is easily the best programming on MTV since the Headbanger's Ball. Also a kudos to an appearance by Black Label Society as well. Also one last thing, the music here is actually decent. I noticed that Justin Credible's music is Prong's Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck! Well Done, MTV well done. The Last Word: So MTV is not useless after all. This is only a half hour long now but given time, this can be huge. Also, it's refreshing to see actual WRESTLERS and not the muscle heads that can't wrestle. Recommended.
