I like other reviewers have felt that true family series had sadly become a thing of the past. But, I can say that this series is a fantastic family series that you don't have to worry about having unwanted content for children. I really appreciate Hallmark producing this wonderful series! I have really enjoyed watching it. It has drama, intrigue, mystery, love, and everything else, but without the violence and nudity or modern agendas and issues. I highly recommend it! Very refreshing!

I know this is a Hallmark show which usually means a pretty and wholesome leading couple, but would it have hurt to give Elizabeth and Jack a bit more personality. Beaming smiles and adoring gazes don't really tell the story. I am not convinced that people love each other just because they state it repeatedly. The actors were doing their best but I actually found them boring. My favorite story line was Rosemary and Lee's romance. There was real warmth between the characters and it was lovely to see how they learned to love each other's little faults and to laugh at themselves. There were some details that didn't really fit the era. Elizabeth's hair was down all the time although decent women wore theirs up. I doubt that maids of honor would have had similar dresses made for a wedding when they didn't really have too much money and they would have been wearing the matching dresses years on in every finer occasion. The school/church was built near the pond on a very flat piece of land. It looked like it might flood in a storm. It will be interesting to see what the writers are going to do with Elizabeth. Is she allowed to live as a single mother for a while or will a tall dark stranger save her from the widowhood.

The people on this show are too perfect to be believable in this time period in this setting Perfect teeth, perfectly highlighted hair, perfectly shaped eyebrows, pierced ears. The clothes are too clean, the language too good for a 1900's coal mining town. Also, it seems about as Canadian as stars and stripes.

I notice all kinds of mistakes in their period pieces such as pierced earrings, men's hair styles etc. (and as a cosmetologist, what is WITH the wig Elizabeth is wearing this season??? NOT a fan!) BUT! It is a western soap opera with a little bit of humor, lots of Hallmark characters and it is a show that is tame. We had to Netflix the past few seasons as I didn't think I would like the show, but my husband and I have enjoyed the light entertainment and a little bit of suspense. Easy on the eyes and brain.
