This is the first time i write a review, but this anine amazed me. I felt a perfect combination of visuals and plot. Even if many people say that his anime is slow, i say it takes it´s time and developes the main character. Even though the baclstory of Violet is not relatable to many, through time and patience it develops her character to us, and we can understand her in a better way, and when we do, it hits us with a 2 eposode long backstory. Her story after developing chatacter made me cry and i don´t think it would have the same feeling without that pacing. The ending is not the happiest, but it feels logical and completed, if you will not be happy with the ending, i suggest reading the light novel, the 7th chapter and volume 2 are not in the anime, so you can just read those if you finished the anime, though i suggest reading the entire light novel because the style of writing is very interesting and did help understand the characters even more.I reccomend the anime to everyone who likes good visuals and story.

I don't usually watch drama or drama anime, to be honest the hype and artwork behind this anime was what made me interested in the beginning. Little did I know that I was in for a beautiful surprise.First two episodes was slightly jarring and slow but I kept watching because it intrigued me how contrast between the nature of the main character and the main focus of the whole series, I was curious as to how would this unfold. And because of that I was lucky enough to have watched the rest of the series including the special episode. The author successfully made this story to became a tale of a naive but broken doll in her journey to explore her own feelings and her identity along the way. What's unique is that the author made the main character did all those things in a way that the main character has to put herself in other people's shoe, in a post-war era where there is no shortage of people losing love ones. It's simply mesmerizing!

Fantastic visual masterpiece, carrying a unique and enthralling story through interesting, real (though sometimes "unfeeling"), lovable characters. Everything the creators could have done right, they did: Violet Evergarden is deep, beautiful, and epic. A victory for the genre of anime similar to the success of Death Note. Despite a uncluttered, cozy pacing that fits with the theme, and some awkward English translations, this is a new bastion of excellence in aesthetic narrative.

Won't bore you with the details, but Violet Evergarden made me reminiscence about small german breweries and their small restaurants, where you ate too much and drank too much beer, both of which were immensely positive experiences. This show is deceptive in its first episode and initially focuses too much in the war flashbacks, but when it gets going, it doubles down on letters and how they are about deciphering the human condition. A very strong series with good animation, good writing, and good direction. Basically it dwells on the elements of emotional transmission that Spike Jonze's Her touched upon, but focuses on the issue and does not flail about or stray towards unnecessary issues, or issues the authors would have trouble expressing adequately. This creates a series which tells a soft story that doubles down on the most interesting aspects of its idea and simultaneously tells the story I actually want to watch without the metaphysical baggage or diverging into far-future concepts that it can't handle.Recommended.
