I borrowed the DVD on the strength of the 'rave' reviews here saying it was hilarious and very funny. Sadly, I didn't find it funny at all. I didn't like any of the characters. Julie, especially, is so annoying.
I really wanted to like this as there is so little comedy around these days, but it just didn't do it for me. Comic moments, for me, have to be unexpected to make me laugh and I just found each episode predictable and lame. I didn't even bother to finish watching the whole DVD set. Life is too short to watch stuff you don't enjoy.

Set in the fictional northern supermarket Valco, Trollied looks at the everyday working life of its employees. At the helm is Gavin, he does his best to run a happy and tight ship, but as with any business, not everything runs as smoothly as it should.I've been an avid fan of Trollied since it began, Series 1 and 2 were fantastically funny, the dynamic between Jason Watkins and Jane Horrocks was hilarious, I also loved Stephanie Beacham's Lorraine. I liked Colin and Lisa's unlikely relationship too. Series 3 was a disaster, as others have rightly said the Richard France character made me switch off. Series 4 was OK, but Series 5 seems very much back on track, getting Sarah Parish on board has made all the difference.I love Linda and Sue on the service desk, I am so glad they've stayed on the show, they're great. Margaret is wonderfully funny, I'm a big fan of Rita May. I must admit I am missing Kieran, Leighton and Julie. It's such a difficult show to review because it has contained highs and lows, I'll score it 8/10, because when it's been good it's been great, we'll forgive them for Series 3.

I started watching the show a few weeks back and am at the end of season 3. I found this show really difficult to rate for the below reason:Season 1 - 8 Season 2 -7.5 Season 3 - 4What happened in season 3? The introduction of Richard France was, in my opinion, the worst thing to happen to the show. His character is just awful, over the top, annoying and unfunny. The charm of the show in the earlier seasons was that it felt like a mocumentary of a super market but by season 3 the feeling of the show has changed. Shame.

I Have just watched series 1,2 & 3 in a week and i enjoyed mostly series 1 & 2 but series 3 was so so bad with the worst character i think i have ever seen in a series namely one Richard France who just made me cringe every time he was on screen. I don't blame the actor if he was told to act like someone under five years old and who made Leighton seem like Albert Einstein and don't get me started on the blokes on the fish counter especially him with the beard, talk about dumb TV. I also saw the making of doc where the producer or writer whoever he was said that Trollied was the first comedy set in a supermarket well i can name two before this as there was Trippers Day & Slingers Day. I Have high hopes for series 4 now with have DCI BANKS in it and Miriam Margoyles but will miss Julie and Katie very much.
