I was really hoping this show would be good because I really wanted to like it, but this show is so poorly written and so poorly executed that I feel embarrassed for these actors. Sadly, everything you read in the previous negative reviews is true. I keep hearing how Tyler Perry works so fast to get things completed and how it's so amazing how he does it. It's not amazing, it's sloppy and the horribly written lines in this story prove it. I feel like I am watching something that was written by a 7th grader who hasn't even had a chance to experience life yet and is just going off stereotypes he has heard about. It is sad to know that an adult wrote this. Don't get me wrong, I love Tyler Perry, he is an amazing human being, but now all I think he sees are $$ signs. Let's be honest, Brock O'Hurn is why the rating's are so high, women and men tune in to see him, he's huge on social media and let's face it, he's nice to look at, but you remove him from this show and this show disappears because it is a rushed, sloppy creation and Brock O'Hurn is the only thing saving it.

This started out awful and got worse as the season went along (if that's possible). I have always known Tyler Perry to crank out garbage but I wanted to give this a chance. It was an impossible task. The acting is some of the worst I have ever seen. I don't know if the actors are to blame since they were given horrible scripts to work from because I'm wondering how Danielle Savre and Kelly Sullivan really have credits to their names if this is the best they can do. The fact that people are watching this show FOR Brock O'Hurn is also a complete joke to me. How can you find someone so attractive who is that dense and terrible at delivering a line. Long hair, don't care. It's not enough to keep the show going. The cast has zero chemistry - and again that's probably Tyler Perry's fault for writing such one-dimensional characters. The fact that TLC picked this up for a second season is what's wrong in the world. It's why our TV has gotten so bad. I don't know if these people expect Emmys but I hope they don't hold their breath because if you look at any one of their social media accounts, which is why I decided to give it a shot, you'd think it was the show/role of a lifetime. The actors seem to kiss Tyler Perry's ass, which is probably good since the rest of their careers will be doing Madea movies (Perry re-uses his actors in projects) because they committed career suicide agreeing to do this show. Are people this desperate for acting gigs and paychecks??! Sullivan should have stayed in soaps because this show makes a soap opera look like an Oscar performance. Savre should have stuck to the gigs she was doing that would have helped her career rather than hindered it. The rest didn't have careers anyway, so I suppose this was better than nothing. This is worse than low budget quality across the board with no depth and every exaggerated stereotype portrayed is disgusting. These actors should be ashamed to stand behind it.The very few 10 star reviews are clearly Perry's camp and the cast member's moms and grandmothers.

I have read all former reviews and can some of them understand. After watching the the beginning episodes I was disappointed about the story line. The reason for returning home to Alabama was also too much for me and it reminded me of Monica Levinsky. In my opinion the story started with many clichés and I have also the feeling that many producers think they need only need gay couple in a TV show and it it will successful. I changed my mind after the introduction of Anna's family in Happy and after I realized that there are much more secrets and how life also can be in the US. But I agree with many other people here. Unfortunately there are too many stereotype in the story and the characters sometimes seem to be too simple. But I like the actors, especially Kelly Sullivan, who did a good job. I am really happy that there will be a second season.

One of the two best new television shows. Tyler Perry surprised the heck out of me. Writer, Director, Editor...? What I like most about this show is the dialog, editing and pacing. It feels like Perry handed the actors a script with what happens in the scene and just said "What would your characters say to move the story along? Improvise."He also lets the scenes run too long but that is great because it is more lifelike. People do repeat themselves. Often, we don't know when or how to end a conversation. This takes you deeper into each character. I stick with a TV show because I like having the characters in the room with. For instance, the first season of "American Horror Story" was really good because we could relate. The second and third seasons made this more difficult. And then we get to that forking awful hotel. I did not want any of those characters in the room with me.. Saw the first episode of this season and it is more creepy people doing creepy things because Ryan Murphy gets off on that. I only like creepy when it uses some imagination and not just shock for shock value. If you like that then A.H.S. is for you.I am not a snob. I like all the " Resident Evil" movies to some degree. And I like spending an hour a week with these charters. I just hope they get more than seven episodes.
