lyninbyron Loved this British drama, suspenseful and well acted until the end. Speaking of the end, when I got to the last episode in the third season, I was very pleasantly surprised that the writers had actually taken the trouble to tie up all the loose ends. Thank you. Rarely seen, most writers opt to leave it to us to imagine what happened to everyone we had invested hours of viewing, in. Take note all writers out there! French subtitles were a bit annoying throughout.
spdoc I'm astonished that not everyone gives this show a 9 or a 10. The only American TV shows I've watched that are comparable in quality would be Breaking Bad and the Wire. The Tunnel has the perfect set-up, compelling acting not only by the leads but by the whole cast, multliple levels of meaning and allegory, and outstanding production values. A great story line and a great picture of modern life, as we know it and love it.
szweda-18555 Have just watched the finale as they say it will not return. Have enjoyed the ride for the most part, the interaction with the two investigators and their colleagues either side of the Channel has been intriguing at times. However, I felt that the plot in series 3 was not up to the standard set before. In fact it was unbelievable at times and as the credits rolled that last time I was heard to exclaim "so that's it?!" Not going to say why because it gives too much away suffice to say the actions of the villains were IMHO too complicated for them to carry off while all the cops were on to them. It felt like Dr Who's scriptwriters had sneaked in at times...
MrBullo I was intrigued from the onset of this series when I saw that "In Bruges" Clemence Posey was playing a different and much meatier role here as a cop. Together with the male lead they carry off their respective roles effectively. The plot had me interested the whole way through and the story is well told. However watch this before you watch the original Scandanavian The Bridge which The Tunnel copies literally verbatim. Although Posey plays her role well the Swedish actress is in a class of her own in this much darker drama. Watch both but watch The Tunnel first.
