I have been watching The Tribe on TV since it first aired in 1999. During this time I was at the same age which also the actors were supposed to be at in the first season. That was just fitting perfect. Now, more than 15 years later, I am still watching my precious The Tribe DVDs every half year. I have to rate 9 out of 10 as I do not like some parts of the story which even become annoying in my eyes after a while. Best example would be the chosen taking over the city in season 3. It takes almost the whole season to fight and beat them, which is also kind of illogic compared to the seasons before or even after where the Mall Rats fought other tribes for a few episodes and then everything was over or settled. Also the constant dying and disappearing of characters causes too many changes in cast, which was of course mostly effected by actors having to quit the show because of school. The fifth and last season has an open ending as season six was meant to continue shorty after. However the filming of season six was not supported by the sponsors anymore as they said the show was not for kids anymore. I think that is quite sad as the audience grew together with the cast.

I catch this series on WAM when I'm channel surfing once in a while. It is dumb as hell, but I can't stop watching once I've turned it on. I went through the same thing with Degrassi Junior High when I was a teen-ager. Both series were low budget, with awful writing & acting. I think it is the unintentional comedy that hooks me. I don't know how the actors/actresses were able to perform & keep a straight face in some of the ridiculous outfits/makeup jobs that are seen on The Tribe. The dialog is what cracks me up more than anything. If I'm channel surfing on the couch & I come across The Tribe, I cannot resist! I give the unintentional comedy title to Degrassi though. Those Canadian Hippy children(Snake! Wheels! Pregnant Chick with Blue Mohawk!) manage to ruin their lives in every episode! :)

The Tribe is a fantastically different teen drama set in post-apocalyptic times after a deadly virus has wiped out all the adults and the kids have to now survive on their own and create a world in their image. Great dramatic story lines make for great viewing and don't ignore the harsh reality of what teenagers have to go through (especially with no adult imput), with story lines such as teenage pregnancy, bulimia, bullying and different tribes fighting against each other for survival and these are just a few of them... All series so far have been fantastic and many people are eagerly waiting for series 6 as am I. Not to be missed! Plus a great selection of new acting talents including Tom Hern and James Napier!

I consider this series' concept very unique, as a post-apocalyptic youth-run society. Unfortunately, it is poorly written and performed[i am guessing produced, as well]. i believe this would have made a better book series than television. But, i have seen better $100-budget amateur films. If you are looking for something to peak your interest, this probably isn't it.
