rjcbm First this show moves so slowly it's hard to stay interested enough to even stay awake. Second,I quickly got sick of the sight of Jessica Beal's face, always snotty and teary. And always with that stupid look, like she's so deep but really she's just annoying. The cop's weird fetish was pointless and lent nothing to story whatsoever. And then when we finally find out what happened to Kora,it's so ridiculous and unlikely that it's just a huge disappointment and leaves you feeling like you wasted a good many hours of your life for nonsense.
cbreillyjr Season 1. Slow, not everything explained...meaning of the stab wounds placement...why do we need to know Pullman has a sado-masochistic relationship with a hooker? Really unbelievable, and Biel didn't really act, she must looked gloomy and sad. Sorry I wasted 8 hrs of my life.
christina-leiva It starts off with the characters and goes from there slowly leaking information about them. It teases you but in a good way not in an annoying way. It hooks you from the show's pace to the show's tone to the mysterious circumstances (we learn about the characters the more we watch), to the anticipation of the build up it provides. Definitely worth it. It is the ultimate brain candy. Jessica Biel does not overact and you really feel for her character. She is a force on screen like never before seen in my opinion. Bill Pullman is relatable to watch as he struggles to piece together the mystery in front of him (ultimately mimicking what we are doing at home watching the show). He gives his whole self to conclude the case. He portrays a very genuine character. I highly recommend if you liked season 1 of true detective or thrillers in general.
Mauseum Just to keep it simple, if you don't have too much experience with European crime dramas then The Sinner isn't for you. It is slow, it is a little pretentious and has a lot of "fluff".The acting is solid and the main stars do well with what they have and in the realm of what they can do. I liked Pullman more than Biel, only because I thought Biel was too old for the part and also required an actress who would be willing to go further in particular scenes. Biel has always had this sort of innocence and you know that having her in a role like this, the dark and uncomfortable scenes would be watered down, like they were. Not a single character/actor is over acted in anyway which is really refreshing (so no one screaming into the camera or doing rediculous emotional outbursts).I found the series interesting but I thought it was a little predictable. Without spoiling anything, there are plot holes but the biggest one is during the final episode between Biel and her mother. This conversation really annoyed me and doesn't fit into the story at all, so that's why my rating is so low. There's also a couple of narratives left unforfilled which I assume they will be concluding during the second series, but still annoying!Anyway, probably worth a watch if you like drama crime mysteries, but just be prepared for the slow pace and fluff that makes you want to skip ahead sometimes.
