marcpaul1979-674-887966 This programme will never be beaten on comedy value. It's a laugh out loud, layered, subtle, cleverly written, timeless classic. I have watched the whole series thousands of times since it was made and find it just as funny everytime.
Doug Burr It doesn't spoon feed you the jokes, but, if you are paying attention there is some super funny stuff here. If the people who made this never made anything else it would already be enough. I love David Brent as a character, he may say and do dumb things sometimes, but, he is a nice person who just wants to be liked. Tim and Dawn are more normal and Gareth is the perfect right hand man for Brent. You can see the influence of Larry Sanders. It is a great show and it deserves all the hype.
grantss English cringe-comedy at its finest.Set in an office in the UK. The head of the department, David Brent (played by Ricky Gervais) is every employee's worst nightmare: vain, reactionary, over-confident in his abilities...and not very bright. Unfortunately he's also not very self-aware, so he thinks he's doing just fine, and that the troops adore and respect him. Cue many cringeworthy scenes and much hilarity.Very funny, very clever and with a touch of human drama and pathos. While Gervais provides the bulk of the humour, there are plenty of other characters in the office, all with different personalities. Some are there for comedic effect, some for dramatic effect. All in all this makes a great TV series, a series which launched the career of Ricky Gervais.
HeidiELove Created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant The Office tells a story of a few people working in a British office working hard to get sacked or aspiring to the dreams of entering a "proper" profession…. A lot of viewers could relate to the frustrations and laughs of "Reality" Working environment and conditions. This UK Comedy won a Golden Globe - not for all it's glamor and "amazing cinematography" or having a huge budget - But because it's about real life and real people."The Office is the first non-American show nominated in the category of best television musical or comedy for a Golden Globe Award; and Ricky Gervais was the first non-American actor nominated for the lead role in a television comedy for the same award. The Office won both awards and left Sex and the City & Matt LeBlanc empty handed".It's smart, clever and most of all catches subtle humor. Using "realism" to leverage Ricky Gervais's gift for uncomfortable humor, the Office highlights the awkwardness, the so-called uncomfortable humor, to (hilariously) painful heights without overdoing it at any level. The Office is considered amongst the greatest British sitcoms of all time.
