I absolutely hate this show! Her character is a complete tramp that doesn't know love if it smacked her right in the face! Every character is wrote out decent except for the lead. Julia Louise-Dreyfus is the worst woman actress I've ever seen try and be a comedian. She is so annoying I'd rather die a million times in a million different ways then ever have to see her again! This show is all about who she sleeps with and how it affects the others who are actually a very caring group. Even my family thinks she is such a horrible actress that she just needs to stop trying to call herself one. She's more of a porn star and I just hate her! This show looks like it could of been good but the lead character just is a bore and has nothing to offer the audience except annoy the hell out of us. It's a 0 out of 10!

This show is a mixed bag, its likable characters managing to prop up its dramatic emptiness an often flat writing.Julia Louis-Dreyfus has aged well, and still can steal a scene with smile or eye roll. Her character here is raunchier than the refined Elaine of Seinfed days. Hamish Linklater and Clark Gregg provide likable foils as Christine's brother and ex-husband. Both have a knack for allowing space for Dreyfus's out sized overacting. The other characters are less successful. Emily Rutherfurd'a new Christine character is somewhat undefined and largely unlikeable. I would have thought the show would center around a counterpoint of new and old Christine, but new Chistine seldom interacts with Louis-Dreyfus at all, and often seems a dramatic after thought. Wanda Sykes plays old Chistine's friend and business associate. Her classic black sitcom stylings seem a little out of place in this white bread comedy. But she gets good lines and proves a likable--if not lovable-- curmudgeon. Its not Seinfeld, but its not bad either.

I'm watching it from the beginning on Lifetime and it is still really funny. I loved it when it was on and thought that the cast was great. I loved Christine, Matthew, Richard, Barb, and the mean mommies. Actually I think that the mean mommies are two of the best characters I've seen in a long time. Their timing and facial expressions with each other and Christine are priceless. Julia is wonderful and there are some Elaine-ish moments (in fact I think they use a clip from Seinfeld in reminiscing about the past.) But Elaine was pretty nuts too. Christine is over the top and completely self-absorbed and after watching for a while, Elaine Bennis slips your mind. I think she really shines in this and the supporting cast is great. The central theme of this show is dysfunction. Terrifically funny dysfunction. They're all so crazy and the enmeshment is off the charts. But each character is funny as hell. I was disappointed when it was canceled but I definitely did see it wearing thin. The first few seasons were genius and as I watch it in reruns, I find it totally enjoyable.

This is one of the funniest shows I have seen in a long time. It's been years since a show has consistently been able to make me laugh out loud. My husband and I have two totally different comedic tastes and both of us crack up when we watch this show. Finally something we can watch together! Julia Louis-Dreyfus is hysterical as Old Christine. Her facial expressions are just the icing on the cake. Wanda Sykes' dryhumor is the perfect match for Dreyfus. And don't get me started on Hamish Linklater as Old Christine's brother Matthew! This is one show we set the DVR for so we can watch and laugh in peace when the kids are in bed. I hope that "Christine" is on for years to come.
