This show is funny, adorable, cute, inspiring, positive. Everything we want in a sitcom. One I can actually watch with kids. If ABC can keep all of those obnoxious "bachelor" shows, they can definitely bring this one back!!!

This very funny series involves a young rapper who runs for mayor as a publicity gimmick and wins with a bold vision undercut by his complete absence of sincere commitment and political know-how. This is a kind of weird show to come out the year we have the same situation with our president Trump, but this kid has something Trump lacks, sensible, moral advisers in the person of his mom and whatever Lea Michelle's job title is.I found the first two episodes very funny, and the mayor and his best buds are wonderfully likable. my only criticism is that the series is essentially three likable boys mothered by two sensible women; it's not a series that thinks outside of the box.Still, I really like it.

Synopsis: Teenager likes to rap, accidentally becomes Mayor of a somewhat rundown town. That whole process was presented in the Pilot, which wasn't funny at all. The pilot wasn't captivating, wasn't deep nor was it entertaining, and what is to come seems fairly predictable. Many pitfalls, many life lessons, many disappointed people, but in the end of the day it all works out, and he gets to rap too.Perhaps I am not the intended audience, but also the 16 year old me would not have watched this. It is simply too flat, too 'fake' and lacks soul, lacks a whole lot of soul.

What a great show! I was flipping channels and found the series premiere tonight and was absolutely delighted by this comedy. Brandon Micheal Hall is a charming, fast talking, sightly self-centered Courtney Rose. Courtney, by trying to promote his music with his run for office, ends up the mayor of his town. This comedy has a lot of heart, and the heart and common sense are centered in Courtney's mom, played by Yvette Nicole Brown. She is fabulous! She reels in her son when he goes too far, and gives him the inspiration and advice and firm talking-to he needs--along with a lot of love and confidence. What a great mom. I was disappointed tonight when I flipped to this show and came here to IMDb. I wanted to find out a little more about it, and I saw that 42 people had rated show for an average of 5.6 before the show even aired. Come on, people, don't do that to this delightful show. Give it a shot. you'll laugh, you'll think, and you'll feel good when it is done.
