Synopsis

When they were twelve years old, Mark, Pru, Danny and Slade were out together in the park. Mark’s five-year-old brother, Jesse, was annoying them. They were mean – told him to get lost. Jesse ran away. He was gone. Never seen again. Twenty years later, Danny – now a detective – learns some shocking news. Jesse’s DNA has been found at a murder scene. He is alive and out there. Somewhere.

tthirdbro Watched the entire series, only to be very disappointed. The ending where Karl is Jesse made no sense. Karl was throwing a charity event, seen dancing at it, and at very the same time Mark was in the woods chasing "Jesse" into a building. If Karl is Jesse, he can't be in two places at same time. The hook was great .. missing child's DNA at murder scene captures you. But then there is really no follow up on that but repeatedly saying "DNA found at the scene" ..like where was the DNA? Was it under the fingernails? Very vague started to get redundant. Then a cop planting evidence at another murder scene just lacks substance. Risk his job, for what? Makes no sense. As a viewer, I want a plot that makes sense. The ending twists are just plain stupid (sorry I can't think of a better word). Then when you watch a show like this and in your own mind eliminate suspects because he/she can't be in two places at one time, and somehow it is that person, just ruins it all because it makes no sense. Yeah I watched entire series, but was horribly disappointed.
psjill-1 Plot potential not fully realised; acting - in most instances barely adequate; writing - abysmal; (character development - limited and implausible; unbelievably stupid scripted behaviour, ridiculous plot lines, and an unsatisfactorily pat ending.) Overall, pretentious, disappointing drivel.
sdisnie2 About a month ago I had sat down to watch this show and for whatever reason I didn't finish the first episode, but after a friend told recommended it to me I came back to watch it again and this time went through the whole season in just 2 days. There were a few parts in the beginning that were a little slow but you definitely have to pay attention and stick with it. I really loved the characters and thought the acting was superb. Excellent story line and I love how they would flash back to when they were kids and show how close they were and still are. I won't give away any spoilers but the ending was so good that I cried! I am curious as to how they are going to have another season unless it will be a totally different story line with different characters as it feels as though they wrapped up the whole mystery in this one season.
bhenn-99747 I'm just starting episode 7, so I really can't fairly review the entire series, but ...I have the same criticism I often have for books - having watched three-fifths of the series so far, I don't think having it be ten episodes long serves this story well. Were this a book, I would wonder if the author was being paid by the page. For this video series, are Mr. Coben and his collaborators beyond paid by the minute. I find myself thinking "This is becoming rather tedious," a feeling I'd rather not have in watching a miniseries. This is the first review I've written, and I'll try to see if I can update my review when I've finished the last episode.
