This is my second "experience" with the Backyardigans and I'm so glad they're still put out shows! My oldest is now almost 8 and it has been several years since we used to watch it together, but now his little brother is enjoying it! Other reviewers have done a better job than I can of addressing the great musical themes and performances, the artwork, and the subtle lessons that come through. And, as other reviewers have said, grown-ups can enjoy it as a relief from the endlessly repetitive toddler and preschool shows that have their value, but can drive parents nuts when heard again and again.I will fully admit to singing along with the catchy theme song and "The Pirate Says Argh"! The music is wonderful... the voice actors fantastic (yet still kid-like, which is even better)... and the "sets" remind me of what it was like to let your imagination fly free as a kid. Both my boys have enjoyed it (my oldest has even joined us a few times!) - I highly recommend it. Cheers from a mom in Idaho!

This show is an absolute delight. I wish they had TV like this when I was a pre-schooler.The format is simple. Five young animals playing in their backyard start to imagine some adventure. The landscape morphs to match their fantasy world. The characters alternately explore and take time out for a little song and dance. The music is quite unlike typical shrill children's music. It is can range from baroque to doo wap. The child actors do an exceptionally good, but clearly child-like job, of the harmonies and counterpoint. They do a simple little dance. It invites participation. The lyrics are great fun, with strained rhymes. The original, clever, simple and upbeat music is what makes the show. The 3D computer animation is smooth, sharp and clear with rich juicy colours. Real children play the characters, with plausible pleasant voices, not the silly squeaking usually used to entertain children. The characters are invariably polite and kind to each other. Each adventure has a subtle morality tale. The story does not beat the kids over the head with moralising.I confess. I am 58 years old, and I love this show. I feel silly watching a show for preschoolers, but it puts such a smile on my face, I tell myself "What the heck."

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!! My 4 month old at the time could not take her eyes off the show, because of all the colors now she is 7 months old and she watches the show every single day she smiles and laughs as if she knows what is going on. we have almost every new show that comes out.I say if this show can get the attention of a 4 month old and she is learning then the show has a lot more then most. She will not watch any other cartoon. The music the colors the adventures are just Awesome!Even my 15 year old thinks it is so cute. The only downfall to me is there is not enough NEW ones and I have learned every single song by heart. Not to mention the toys or stuffed animals are so hard to find and the Pillows online cost to much for me to afford.I cant find any room decor to fix her room up in.But Hey this show is one of the BEST I have ever watched!!!

Love the Backyardigans. My youngest daughter loves it too. Here in the UK, the voices are great. We were in the US a few weeks ago and watched it there - and I must say that we all preferred the UK voices. They are non-descriptive and blend easily together, whereas the US voices you can definitely tell things about the actors who are the voices. I thought that they wanted everyone to be different but thought of as the same? With the UK voices they are. Why aren't the UK cast members listed on IMDb? Everyone else has said how wonderful it is, and IT IS! I cannot expound any more! Great Job Janice Burgess!
