mjhendry When i hear of Anime the preconception is that it's weird. This is what I thought because of shows such as Pop team Epic. I only decided to watch Steins;Gate because i told my friend that if he could give me a Sci-Fi Anime rather than typical fantasy ones with the giant swords, i would watch it. I love the idea of time travel and Steins;Gate incorporated my fascination of this subject in a way that i can not explain. The series takes turns that could not have been guessed and I loved the way the story was hard to predict but all the events seemed natural and abiding by the laws of the universe that Steins;Gate is set in. This show made me laugh, cringe, (nearly) cry and feel inspired myself. The piano melodies and the way the characters react are so fitting an ingenious. I loved this show to the bones and I can easily say that it is a story masterpiece that comes once in a life time. I fear that there is no Anime like this one, that would blow my mind in the same way. I highly recommend this to anyone who have never watched Anime before. I encourage anyone who wants to tell their friends about this series, to not tell them it's an Anime as it gets rid of the preconception but focus on the story itself. Steins;Gate is a wonderful story about a 'mad' scientist who invents time travel with his friends and when it backfires, he does all that he can to save the ones who are closest to him, those he loves, who are his friends.
vivifan What an outstanding series, That's all I can say. This is one of my top five favorite anime's (Clannad After Story, FMA brotherhood, Cowboy bebop, and Death note being my other favorite's.) I loved the storyline, characters, music, voice acting in both English and Japanese (Tho I like the Japanese version a bit more.) it's character development, Art style, comedy, drama, romance, action the list goes on!. Tho I will say you will have to be patient because like many people have said it does start of rather slow in the first 11 episodes. It's not bad or anything far from it but it's rather not as intense and as emotional as the second half is. But it works really well imo since it gives it a lot of time to bond with these characters and learn more about them. So when the second begins you will feel more emotionally involved with what happens to the characters. I loved all of them and felt kind of empty when the series ended. That is what you want in a Good TV show/movie or any other form of entertainment is too feel for the characters and this does a fantastic job. Every character who displays any form of emotion you will feel for them and understand where they are coming from. I Highly Recommend this to any Time Travel/SCI-FI fan and even to people who are not fans of anime.
antareanghost Was not able to concentrate on thinking about anything except Steins;Gate universe and missing keyboard buttons in about a week after watching. When I found out that it originally comes from visual novell - I had finished it in freaking days, both original and Steins;Gate Zero. Tho the first novel have some specific character's faces appearance - they are going to remaster it, using materials from anime adaptation and additional materials made. Some folks calls this series heavily overrated, which brings me to a conclusion that they have some serious troubles with perception of any multimedia's atmosphere.
Mantis Lord (Mantislord000) This show is one of the greatest series I've ever seen. Such a fascinating and engaging approach to the concept of time travel, fully humanized by the characters and plot to pull me in and take my breath away as it progresses. All of the characters have their own special quirks that left me caring for each, particularly the main friend group headed by Okabe Rintarou, the self-proclaimed mad scientist. I found myself quickly becoming entertained with these characters, feeling everything from happiness to depressive devastation as the story went along. The story began in a way that for many would be somewhat confusing and perhaps even hard to get into, but as it goes along and explains itself more you get the ropes of what's going on and become more immersed in the world. Unexpected turns occur throughout always leaving you wondering what will happen next, and often leave you with a strong emotional response. The captivating blend of sci-fi thriller with the dark and thoughtful undertones put this series on another level.A truly delightful experience in every sense. The characters and story alone make it well-worth the ride. But the implications it leaves for the concept of time travel add another layer of thought-provoking ideals to grapple with. Which makes it even more worth the experience in my opinion. All in all, one of my favorites without a doubt and a show I fell in love with very early on.
