Synopsis

Each day the President is faced with dozens of life and death decisions, and to prioritize the biggest international crises facing the country, one top CIA analyst - Charleston Tucker - assembles the President's Daily Briefing. This list of the most vital security issues facing the nation brings with it moral and political judgment calls for Charleston and her trusted group of brilliant analysts at the agency. Aside from the political minefields she has to walk, Charlie has a close personal relationship with the President because she was once engaged to her son before a tragic terrorist attack took his life. Charlie survived that attack and is now determined to bring the perpetrators to justice. Navigating a complex personal life and a pressure-cooker profession is, of course, a challenge, and Charlie sometimes engages in boundary-pushing behavior to avoid facing her grief. But when the clock strikes 2 a.m., she is all about her job - protecting her nation, serving her president and still trying to get to the bottom of her fiancé's murder that will reveal itself as a shocking mystery.

Reviews

shirschloss Great show. Can't imagine why this was canceled. The acting was good and the plot interesting. Now I have to search for something good to watch again. Not an easy task. My family liked it as well and we looked forward to it each week. We thought for sure that new episodes would be forthcoming. We don't watch the reality shows and look for something with some substance to it. At least this show gave us food for thought and provoked us to think about the consequences of war. The cast was good as well. Please think about reinstating it. Thanks for listening. Hopefully you do read these and act upon them.We will be watching to see what happens with this show in the future. Bring it back!!
schmandel Not very good at all.I've watched the entire season waiting for just about anything interesting or entertaining. Having never seen "Grey's Anatomy" as a point of reference I must say that Heigl swings between overacting and wooden model poses with ease. The writing is not very good at all and has the same listless mechanical feel conveyed by Heigl's acting. The soap opera aspects of the script are just awkward and tedious. These elements are distracting and enhance the sense that the show has no idea what it should be.I don't think there's anything to be salvaged here. One season should be enough for anyone.
smasonnc I saw a few minutes of this on a plane during a 17 hour flight. I just couldn't take it seriously so I opted for the in-flight magazine. At first, I thought it must be a spoof of Homeland. Katherine Heigl acted her little heart out, but she's still a cream puff. I know she played a doctor on Greys Anatomy but KH just doesn't come off as smart or serious. She looks and acts more like a Midwest pageant winner than a top CIA analyst. How did she get such a high powered job with responsibility for the well being of the entire country? Oh, right. She was engaged to the president's son. Wait, what?KH and her mom should catch an episode of Homeland or Madame Secretary. I gave them two stars for casting the always wonderful Alfre Woodard even though they failed to use her to her full capabilities. It's a sad "State of Affairs" that Ms. Woodard has to be part of drivel like this.
old cold warrior Today is 5 Jan 2015. Halfway through the show I have to stop watching. The days of crossing borders with a bottle of booze and a small cash bribe are over. This show could just as easily be produced on radio. It's all talk and very little action. People talk in hotel rooms and cars in front of slides to indicate some exotic setting in the background. The dialog shoots by at a blistering pace, full of apparently significant and detailed information in very official sounding language.I really wanted to like this show. I like Heigl and have no interest in the hate a number of people have toward her. But the writing is insulting and the action is unbelievable. The show lacks credibility.
