To the producers of this show: THERE IS ONLY ONE CAPTAIN KIRK (William Shatner). We don't want to see some ugly effeminate dude with a high-pitched voice trying to stand in for the great Bill Shatner. THERE IS ONLY ONE MR. SPOCK (Leonard Nimoy). We don't want to see some guy with a goofy haircut and the wrong complexion who looks like he's 11-years old doing a bad job of trying to be Spock.Same notation for all the other characters. And therein lies the problem: the producers should have used all new characters (example: Captain Smith, Science Officer Jones, etc.), and they should be on a different ship (example: U.S.S. Independence). The idea to 'continue' the series with a Starfleet ship, the same sets, the same ship sounds, the same uniforms (especially the chicks in those mini-skirts), this was an exciting idea. But to get other actors to play such beloved characters from the original series was a death sentence for the show.An example of my theory is the new character of Elise McKenna (Michele Specht). She is believable and beautiful. This was a promising show idea, but when the producers came to the question of either making the crew the same characters from the original series - or - making the crew a different one, they made the wrong choice.Opportunity missed. Too bad.

Star Trek Continues is made with meticulous attention to detail and great effort. There are episodes, for example "Lolani" that come with a hair breadth of TOS show quality. The FX are set to emulate those of TOS. Consequently, the FX may seem more slick in some of the other fan produced shows, but the story telling, characters and pacing are a perfect emulation of TOS. Even the on-board banter between the crew, the angle of the camera shots, lighting, all of those are perfectly recreated. The acting, while not quite at the level of professional experienced Hollywood actors, evolves to a surprising level of professionalism, rising well above the wooden acting in many other fan produced Trek films. Highly recommend seeing Star Trek Continues - it will leave you feeling like you just saw another canon episode of Star Trek TOS.

This is an excellent series. It's not the original, but it's the closest I've seen. Vic and Michelle are great. I know Next Gen was the first time we saw a counselor, but it doesn't mean they weren't around on the original series. Enterprise had 430 crew members. It's fair to guess about 50 could've been medical. We never saw all the crew. So who knows. I think the acting is so good, I wish CBS would make this the new Trek show, instead of Discovery! Please people, if you're a true Trekkie, don't bash the children of the original actors. The Scotty isn't bad, and it's great to have actual Trek blood on the show!

A bit of background. I'm a huge fan of TNG still watch it today. Watched a few episodes of TOS in my youth when it was rerun on TV and liked it very much. Watched the top rated episodes of DS9, Voyager and Enterprise and did not like any of them very much, didn't bother with other episodes. To sum up, Picard is by far the best captain, Kirk is also great (to be clear I would personally get along better with Kirk but think Picard is the better captain). Now Star Trek Continues is really very good. The attention to detail, the way its made to look like TOS, very well written stories, morality and ethics are the prominent themes (and less of the politics and mind games tripe of DS9 et al). Acting ranges from superb to very good. The best thing about it is that its not made by a big studio and they take their time to make very good episodes. So I believe this series combines the best of what makes the Star Trek franchise so great. Happy watching.
