I watched the entire series waiting for something to happen. if I had only read the majority of reviews first, I would've known to expect NOTHING to happen. I especially didn't appreciate the lack of subtitles on the final chapter when all was (supposedly) to be revealed.
To sum up: The series SUCKED. I didn't know who the killer at the beginning and failed to realize the killer at the end! Is it just me on this point?

This series has the nerve of season 1 of True Detective, the cinematography of Inception, the clipping of the Blade Runner, the grit of The Wire and the family dysfunction of Six Feet Under. It's all the good things of cinematography in one series. Great acting, suspense in every episode and a loss for it only being a miniseries.

I really want to love this show. Perhaps that's why I'm still watching after such a disappointing episode 5. I have listened to true crime podcasts more riveting than this. And I probably should do that instead of setting aside an hour in my week to watch this. This show is sadly underwhelming. I can't believe the positive 9-10/10 reviews. People jumped the gun after the first episode, but the popularity ticker doesn't lie and this show is losing viewers. I find my mind floating to other things and activities while watching each dull episode. And each time I snap back, I realize I haven't missed that much. If I wanted an anthropological look at the rural white South, I have the New York Times.
Whatever they were trying to do with this show just misses the mark.

Far too slow and boring . Real shame as the production is good, there's just no storyline ? Another snoozefest from Sky Atlantic along with Billions and Westworld. Let's hope they don't mess up season 2 of Little Big Lies , but I'm not feeling optimistic.
