I like the snappy dialogue, its a good show, not perfect, but far better than most, plus, none others are perfect either. second jen, took me a few showing to get the in joke about it. these people seem real. its a lot like one of my other favorite shows 'the middle' about a semi dysfunctional family, like that overly vast majority of us out in the real world, but is still able to come together in the end to get things done, not destruct. those hating on it? i don't get it, unless they got a personal agenda that really has nothing to do with this show but for their own attention getting.

This is a terrible, terrible, terrible show. It is just terrible, terrible, terrible.

Second Jen is just atrocious. It's awful. It's a train wreck. This show is terribly, horribly, unbelievably, horrifyingly bad. I would need a thesaurus to even begin to describe just how mind-bogglingly bad Second Jen is.Worst acting ever? Check.Worst writing ever? Check.Jokes that are so not funny that we literally wondered if they even qualified as jokes at all? Check.A show so ineptly conceived and put together that we weren't sure until the end credits if they had even bothered to hire a director or producers? Check. This show has literally nothing to offer. Since moving to Canada, I would say this show is easily in contention for the worst comedy series I have ever seen. The fact that I can think of two or three other shows that are even in the same conversation as shows that are as bad as this one should alarm Canada's television industry, because Second Jen is so inexcusably awful - every part of this show is so poorly thought out and executed - that I am mystified as to how it was ever produced let alone broadcast on a major television network.

I stumbled onto Second Jen randomly, while flipping through channels. I happened to stop at a scene from the fifth episode, where the two main characters were seeing a doctor together. Despite having no context of who these characters were, or what they were doing, I found it charming and funny. I decided to go back to the beginning and watch the whole season. The show has received some acclaim for starring two female Asian characters as the leads of the show. This goes beyond any sort of token diversity, as these two characters are framed by their experience as second generation Canadians (hence the name), as well as being 20-something women. While the latter characterization may not be ground breaking, I did find the way it was presented refreshing. These two characters are very charming and relatable, but without becoming too twee or annoying.Second Jen's greatest strength s its two lead actors, Amanda Joy and Samantha Wan. They have great chemistry together, and trade quips and barbs with ease. While I may not have gotten wrapped up in its plot, I always wanted to see more of Mo and Jen.I hope that Second Jen is renewed, but barring that, I hope to see more of Amanda Joy and Samantha Wan on Canadian television.
