This is basically "Cops" done like "Spinal Tap." I wonder if Misters Guest, McKean, and Shearer are proud. It's filmed really well. I imagine someone unfamiliar with it might wonder if it's real or not. That is until one of them shoots a suspect on a shoplifting call because he didn't want to waste time.Dangle's tiny shorts put a few people off it seems. It's not the most attractive look, but then, that's comedy.Travis Junior (Benny's a real Deniro/Taxi Driver fan.) looks like such a stereotypical beat cop. He plays the whole "Step over here for a minute sir" role to the hilt too.And while I like the Williams character, I don't think we need so much fake "L'il Kim" lingo to get humor. And some of the Gay humor seems a bit trite too.But funny? Yes. I discovered this recently and got plenty of laughs. Glad it survived.

RENO 911 is basically SUPER TROOPERS reworked for TV, much the way the show about the two Southern brothers with the race car, DUKES OF HAZZARD, was a thinly disguised knockoff of SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT. Problem is, SUPER TROOPERS was only sporadically funny and this TV version is even less so. What initially appears to be a sendup of COPS is really nothing of the sort, and as bad as COPS is, it is far more watchable than this. The show also lapses into truly objectionable material in an attempt to provoke laughs. But no laughs are forthcoming. The humor is often crude and lewd, aimed strictly at infantile minds.

I was so excited when I heard about this show. I was an avid "The State" fan, and I really missed them. Whenever I heard someone yelling about putting balls in something, I would get a pang of times lost. Suffice it to say, I managed to stay home from work, just to watch the first episode. It was worth it. I don't think I even stopped laughing until the end of the show. Everything these guys touch just goes to pot(sometimes literally). And though all the characters are totally flawed and possibly dangerous to themselves and others, you really can't help but feel a little sorry for them. I still wouldn't want to have them around trying to keep the peace, or some semblance of it.... If you don't watch it now, catch up! You'll love yourself for it. Go Reno!

Members from the original MTV comedy show The State that went on to star in the very forgettable series on Comedy Central called Viva Variety return to once again try to make the audience laugh with Reno 911. At times, the series in funny as it manages to hold itself up with one line jokes and rude and at sometime crude humor with crap and fart jokes. Still, when there is nothing else better to watch, Comedy Central always comes through with series like Reno 911 to make you smile. I hope for the series to get better as oppose to it getting worse and disappearing without any hopes of coming back or going to DVD. Most of the cast are funny stand up or stage comedians. While the script falls short on many occasions, the cast remains strong.
