This is the end of the human race done right, it doesn't get caught up in how depressing it would be to be the last human and the zanyness gets better and better season by season with season 8 being my favourite by far and the mini-series in place of season 9 being the worst by far, season 10 does a bit of a hard reset, removing kochanski and while the episodes are better than the first few seasons they just aren't as entertaining as they used to be. Hopefully they bring kochanski back soon, she really helped round out the team and add new fodder for comedy

Anybody who enjoys quirky British comedy and science fiction couldn't help but love the first six series of this show (1988-93). Unfortunately, when writer Rob Grant left leaving only Doug Naylor to take the show forward, the show began a serious decline in quality. Series VII and VIII (1997 & 1999) were still OK, but it was pretty evident that the magic was gone. After a decade-long hiatus, the show was back in 2009 with the abominable three-part miniseries Back to Earth, now considered the ninth series. Plenty of reviewers have already noted how disappointing this series was and why, so I won't repeat the obvious. When plans for a new series to be aired in 2012 were announced, many of us who love the show shuddered, thinking that surely it couldn't be anywhere near as bad as the last effort. After watching the first couple of episodes, it is apparent that there is at least an attempt to return to the verve of the first six series. Regrettably, however, much of what I watched simply wasn't all that funny. I'll watch the rest, as I am too much of fan to miss them.My advice for anyone who has never seen an episode is to start at the beginning with Series I and work your way through the classic episodes in order. They are timelessly funny and stand up to repeated viewings.

Red Dwarf is undoubtedly a classic, with its perfect blend of extraordinary sci-fi plot lines and down to earth British humour proves a great combination for sci-fi fans and general TV lovers alike. The show is set in the future and is based around the scruffy Dave Lister (Craig Charles), the pessimistic coward Arnold Rimmer (Chris Barrie), the mutant cat (Danny John-Jules) and the clumsy android Kryten (David Ross and Robert Llewellyn) and their adventures in space when they are trying to find there way home. Countless are the times when you will be watching red dwarf and you will literally have to pause the DVD because you are laughing so much. I personally recently purchased the entire Red Dwarf collection and I am very content with my purchase. The only thing left to say about it is that young or old you will easily fall in love with "The Boys From The Dwarf"

Anyone who has a problem with this revival is either A) a smeghead, or B) can't handle Red Dwarf without a laugh track.Ditching the laugh track forces the script into sharper writing. Overall, there are less jokes than the previous seasons, but the jokes are higher quality. This is as it should be. The "There Must Be A Laugh Every 11 Seconds Or Less" rule of television sitcoms is the bane of true comedy. It's amazing the original Red Dwarf ever circumvented it while conforming to it.Now Red Dwarf isn't restricted by such nonsense and is truly entertaining. If this is the last Red Dwarf we see, I will be absolutely sad.Hell, this comeback leaves me cheering for a Red Dwarf movie.
