cmc2392 Great Family Genealogy show with loving family.!!!~ Modern Family, Fresh Off the Boat, Von Trapp, Pearson( This Is US and Corleone) may owes tribute to this the show big time. There are many shows can be reality, drama, half soap opera style in more or (less like soap operas The Originals, Vampire Diaries Empire, Dynasty and Dallas) The show fan want to be more diverse inspirations mixed Roseanne, Shameless, All-American Girl which is very Asian stereotype sitcom. All-American Girl need to fixed more family generations of Braverman. Waltons and Keatons are best example for this show which has more family drama. THe problem at the ended, viewer do not see many offsprings finale. Two of stars Braverman play previous tv portray decent father Adma and hot impulsive mother Sarah ( Laura Graham from Gilmore and Peter Krause from Six Feet Under). Surprisingly, Craig T Nelson's role who I am very familiar with his acting( Bob Parr and Father Freeling from Poltergeist). Nelson play grandad and father of four Braverman children. Aftermath, fan disappointedly really want to see want happen to Braverman clan in last season. The family need more Shameless clan family; Jabbar's heritage diversity and flashback of Braverman clan's childhood. Also Crosby had unborn baby at finale that we need to see it.
scifisyphers Let's put aside the fact that, without being a regular watcher of this show, I predicted EVERY coming plot point from how hard the writers telegraphed them each time I caught it while my wife was watching it.Solely on the merits of the characters and their motivations/reactions this show is melodramatic garbage masquerading as realism. Every character is two dimensional with the only development being ones you could expect from the character descriptions (idiot makes good, put together couple falls apart, trouble child actually talented still trouble). Each and every character instill within me a deep and abiding hatred of the writers, and that's for the characters you are meant to like, because with few exceptions the antagonists of the show are one dimensional, serving only the purpose of being terrible people without actually having any humanity of motive to their actions, existing solely for the point of conflict.I hate this show so much I actively leave not just the room, but the floor of the house it is playing on. If I could give it a zero, I would.
kirkman1968 It's hard to even put into words how I feel about this show. I was instantly drawn to it from the first ten minutes. It's beautifully written and I was so sad to see it come to an end. The characters are lovable and it always leaves you wanting more. If you don't like to have to pull out the Kleenex box every so often you may not want to watch. The ensemble of actors that were chosen for this show are great and blend well with one another. Craig T. Nelson is the lovable patriarch of the family. Bonnie Bedehlia plays his wife who is the backbone of the family. My personal favorite is Dax Shephard who plays Crosby. What a true and fun loving character.
dest-faith What a great series. Watching this show has motivated me to be a better mother and person in general, while reminding me of my strengths in those areas. I find, too, that where we tend to judge people for their decisions in real life, the show gives you an insider view to their decision- making that you wouldn't otherwise have. I'm describing a story, so obviously this cannot be taken literally in the strictest sense; but this has to seriously be the most relatable show character-wise I've ever had the pleasure viewing. If you're a single mom, a married one, a stay-at- home dad, marrying at 40+, moving back in with your parents, struggling with autism-spectrum disorders as a family member or self, in a mixed- race family or marriage, adopting, adopted, male, female, gay, straight, flexible, underachieving, perfectionist...I can go on. It's just great. "Tugs at the heart strings" has never been a truer description in my viewing experience (and I watch way too much TV).Now the show isn't perfect (but almost). A couple actors have been too clearly type-casted (particularly those who play Sarah and Adam). I just started watching Gilmore Girls, and Lauren Graham is the same free-spirited, jittery, out-spoken single mom who has a friendship with her daughter as much as a parent-child relationship. She dates her daughter's pivotal teacher in each series even. She recently becomes more involved with her own parents in each series, having a reunion of sorts, and the kids in each are just getting to know and bond with their grandparents. She has a potential romance with a cynical guy who borders on hating people altogether in each series. I mean, there are a lot of "coincidences," and I'm still in the first season of Gilmore Girls, so I'm sure there are more to come. I guess "if it ain't broke, don't fix it," but when you see one actor play essentially the same character in a different story, it reminds you amid your viewing experience that this is only a story and thereby takes from that swept-away factor. Adam (played by Peter Krause) is basically Nate Fisher (Six Feet Under) in a parallel universe. His temperament and many aspects of his life situation were so similar that I expected Kristina not to make it when she had cancer, just going off Nate's loss in Six Feet Under. There are also minor plot holes, particularly in the final season, which are bound to annoy the fastidious viewer. No big deal in the grand scheme, but again, please sweep me away! I want to forget that this is all fiction for 45 minutes. I can get to appreciating the writing, production and cast later.Overall, I'm very pleased with this one. Very tasteful, endearing, down-to-earth and *almost* perfect.
