EP1 E-Bikes: The Battle for Our Streets Jan 06, 2025

Adrian Chiles investigates the extraordinary rise of electric bikes on our streets and what that means for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists. He asks whether, despite their green credentials, they are a solution to our congested towns and cities or a new menace in need of tighter regulation. He discovers that some more powerful and faster e-bikes, while openly sold as commuter bikes, are illegal to ride on the road. Sales of e-bikes have boomed but, as they are crammed into the same space as pedestrians and other road users, councils and the police are struggling to cope with the e-bike revolution.

For Panorama, Justin Rowlatt meets protestors, energy secretary Ed Miliband and Oscar-nominated actor Ralph Fiennes, who are all taking sides in the battle over rewiring Britain.

Panorama investigates the condition of rented properties in the UK. The government says that in England alone the health of two million people is under threat from mould. After two-year-old Awaab Ishak died from prolonged exposure to mould in 2020, a new law was proposed to protect tenants. Despite being passed by the previous government in 2023, the law will not come into force until the autumn. Reporter Rahil Sheikh speaks to families living with black mould in both social housing and private rented properties, and reveals how the home of one elderly couple, who say that damp and mould is impacting their health, is owned by one of Britain’s wealthiest landlords.

notom-23012 As 'News' or 'Documentary' this programme is absolutely WORTHLESS. However, as Propaganda - it's the equivalent of 'Lord Haw-Haw' radio broadcasts during the 2nd world war. It's sheer inability to convey true information is pretty much unparalleled, within its 30 minute boundaries, yet it still manages to push across the ideals and idea's of its masters.If, you really want to consider a 'fact' as truth - watch this sh*t and choose the opposite.

Chris Gaskin I didn't realise Panorama had been running for over 50 years until I looked it up on IMDb, it started in 1953. I thought it started in around the 1960's.It is the BBC's programme that looks into current news items in detail. We have had programmes about the Royal Family, politics, wars, the NHS, the state of Britain's railways etc. There have been special investigations into current stories as well.Plenty of different presenters over the years include Richard Dimbleby, Sara Barclay, Martin Bashir, David Dimbleby, Jane Corbin and Jeremy Paxman.Panorama is now usually screened on BBC1 on Sunday night at 10.15, just after the News. It use to be on Mondays at 9.30. Each show lasts about 40 minutes although sometimes it's on for an hour.Long may Panoarma continue.
