websterdj We have recently watched up to season three of Outlander. I have never seen a show that had the lead characters so united and authentic. The casting is all very good, but the chemistry between Jamie and Claire appears REAL! They are both very good actors. I do not think I can wait for the rest of the series, I am even dreaming about this programme! The locations are marvellous, but I prefer to see the Scottish Highlands, than some of the other locations. Well written, well chosen cast, fabulous locations and costumes that are very authentic. Can hardly wait for season four and the other seasons to be filmed. Please keep it going! It is pure escapism and receives 10/10 from me! Thank you Diana Gabalon, have now bought your books too!
hoyden-59572 Ewwww! This is not a Romance. If you're a feminist, definitely stay away from this. I was lured by the rave reviews and frankly the costuming and settings as well as the actors are superb, but this is disturbing on so many levels. It was a very pedestrian start and when I finally did get in the swing of the story, I found it disturbing that at every turn, it seems women are treated as nothing but potential rape victims. Historical authenticity is one thing but this was very one sided. Be scared and be grateful is the underlying tone of the thing. The brutalistic approach is not appealing in the least. I certainly didn't sing up for a Midnight Express version of a romance, but I stomached it to a point and soldiered on until suddenly, it became porn. I felt truly sorry for the actors, then. Nothing of that kind was needed to forward the plot. The director must hate women and/or be going through a nasty divorce. This is just offensive. If you truly like romance, this isn't it. I'll try the book. It has to be better than this.
rbhalversen I've read all the books related to Outlander and think for the most part the show is fantastic. Love all the characters despite some little differences from the books. One exception is Bree. That casting is not very good on my opinion and dissapinting since she is going to have such a large role in the next few series. Not only does she not look the part but her acting is forced and amateur compared to the rest of the actors. Cringe! Sounds like she just read all her lines. Hope she gets better.
camanmit Loved each and every season of outlander great cast , story , acting , world building etc etc.
