airaonate Tried to power through the first few episodes, hoping it would get better, but it didn't. The diverse cast is great, but the writing and sometimes the acting falls flat. I found all the characters annoying for the most part, especially Monse and Ruby. This also just seemed like it was trying too hard to be Sandra Cisnero's The House on Mango street but just ended up a super dramaticized, annoying version of it.

jasmina-reyes Just finished watching the entire season and I'm shook!!! Go into it I had my doubts, but a couple of minutes into it I fell head over heels for each main character! These young men & women portray these characters with such truthfulness. The viewer is left with a sense of realness and authenticity to what life is for them in this part of Los Angeles or their block. The storyline realistically portrays the hardships the residents on the block experience. But is the comical and satyric approach that captures the viewer. Give it a try you might like!
