Synopsis

Shinichi Chiaki is a first class musician whose dream is to play among the elites in Europe. Coming from a distinguished family, he is an infamous perfectionist; not only is he highly critical of himself, but of others as well. The only thing stopping Chiaki from leaving for Europe is his fear of flying. As a result, he's grounded in Japan. During his 4th year at Japan's top music university, Chiaki happens to meet Noda Megumi—or as she refers to herself, Nodame. On the surface, she seems to be an unkempt girl with no direction in life. However, when Chiaki hears Nodame play the piano for the first time, he is in awe at the kind of music she plays. To Chiaki's dismay, Nodame moves into the apartment next to his and finds out that she is head-over-heels in love with him.

Reviews

Irishchatter I swear to God, Nodame is so relatable to any of us like she doesn't always clean her room, she doesn't bother to wash her hair every so often and she's a bad cook. As well I always love how she always pisses Chiaki off and makes him do the work for her especially washing her head for her like OMG! What's even funny, we get see Okuyama (who looks like Disco Stu from the Simpson's) going after Chiaki and pissing him off too by his goofiness. Chiaki and Okuyuma are just two different people who just want to be loved by the same person just because of the way he is I suppose lol! I have to say it was cute that Chiaki did hug Nodame but it was kinda unexpected. I really thought he hated her guts but the message is love is quite complicated with personality clashed! Seriously man, this anime would definately brighten up your day whenever you feel down and the fact we get to hear some well known classical music on this, is pretty much like an antidepressant. I'm not a big big fan of classical music but it really does the job if you seriously need a time out for yourself! I found this anime both relaxing and enjoyable!I definitely recommend this to anyone who likes classical music and likes humorous comedy. 8/10
Chris K At first I was skeptical about this one. A series featuring classical music students? I went with it simply out of boredom. Boy, was I glad I did.The characters and humor is excellent. I was laughing out loud in pretty much every episode. The setting is refreshing and you can follow the story without actually knowing anything about music. The story is about a young and unknown musical genius wanting to become a conductor but having given up on his dream until he meets Nodame, an outcast at his conservatory, who completely messes his life and sets him on the right path. It seems cheesy, but the comedy moments are very much hilarious and the story is put together in a very refreshing way.I'll be honest and go ahead and admit I'd never heard of the sonatas and concerts featured in the series. I think classical music gained one more fan as of today. In conclusion, a very optimistic anime series and definitely a must-watch.Animation quality: 8.5 Music: 10 Storyline/Characters: 9.5
