I enjoyed Season 1 to 4. The character development, plot twists, and story direction were pretty much on point. I am currently watching Season 5, and it has become such a circus I don't know where to begin. Pretty much all of the characters lack any redeeming traits whatsoever. Whatever glimmer of decency they have left are ultimately shadowed by their foibles. The characters are all driven by sex at this point. One can argue that they have always been driven by sex, but the difference is that Season 5's portrayal of sex is almost offensive. I also don't buy that Matt has become a drug addict due to his "love" for Kimber. I don't buy Julia turning to Christian for comfort. I don't buy Sean's foray into acting. It's sad when shows with great beginnings are eventually eclipsed by their horrible endings. It seems that the writers were determined to destroy any character development that has been in play in the earlier seasons. With that being said, I will still definitely recommend this.

The first couple of seasons were great. The show takes an insightful look behind the curtains of the plastic surgery industry in Miami, a very plastic city. The characters are complex and interesting , the scenery is cool, and the plots are entertaining. I particularly like the way that the patients are metaphors for the trials and tribulations in the doctors' personal lives, and how the doctors often learn from their patients in many ways.Around Season 4, however, this series started to take a sharp turn toward the melodrama and playing with the net down of a soap opera. While I still found myself entertained with almost every episode, the level of crazy and drastic character changes really detracted from what were often clever concepts of image and its societal role. The actors were very competent, for the most part. I found myself thinking that Walsh would have been a good alternate for Walter White if Bryan Cranston had been unavailable. Carlson was perfect for the role of Kimber Henry, in looks, sensuality, and ability to be beautiful while radiating inner ugliness that crept closer to the outside as the series went on.On the other hand, I feel Hensley was miscast. His impish features just weren't right for the desirable young ladies' man that the show started to feature him as, nor was his soft demeanor right for the times that the show called for him to act hard. One might respond that that was the point, that his character was often out of his element in assuming those roles, but I still feel that the show could have chosen someone who was at least a little believable in those situations. He might be good in something else, but I found myself looking at him as a blemish on an otherwise-solid lineup. As the show gained popularity, more cool guest stars could be spotted, including the delectable Sanaa Lathan, who really embraced her sensuality for this show. I also enjoyed the performances of Mario Lopez and Peter Dinklage, who both brought some much-needed levity to the show when it seemed that most of the other characters were acting crazy.I'd love to hear from medical doctors on this one. Was this a decent medical drama, in your opinion? Or were they taking reckless liberties with the medical field in this one. I know I can't watch many legal dramas because they butcher the courtroom. Do you feel that way about this show? For more reviews and a kickass podcast, check out: www.livemancave.com

Gross, badly written, horrible subjects, overrated drama. It's meaning of Nip/Tuck to me. I began to watch this show because everyone's saying it's like Six Feet Under. It has same subjects like death. But when i saw the first season i realize it's one of the worst show in the world.I'm curious what writers thought what they write these episodes. They're far away from being realistic. How can people think this is one of the best dramas on TV. Watch some Six Feet Under and learn what a drama should be like. Like i say, the only thing good about this show is its opening sequence. Good work Digital Kitchen. And i can't believe it won Golden Globe for Best Drama. Are you blind? How can this show wins for Best Drama when Queer as Folk doesn't have any Golden Globe or Emmy nomination?

Season 1-3 are the best television I've ever seen hands down, although they are a bit of an acquired taste. Many people take against the graphic violence and sex of this show, and the stomach churning realistic portrayal of plastic surgery. The show requires a suspension of belief because it covers such a wide variety of depraved and twisted issues that you just kinda have to go with it, but if you do, it's well worth the ride.Beneath the surface as well, Nip/Tuck deals sensitively with many issues not covered by other main stream shows, especially issues of sexuality and trans-gender, self harm, rape as well as many others. However I do end on a sour note. My rating of 10/10 is only up until the end of season 3. After that the show becomes a caricature of itself, focusing on bringing forth the most bizarre and depraved issues without studying characters or issues with any heart of sensitivity at all. Suspension of belief becomes next to impossible as characters have sex with dwarfs, a swathe of people get killed off at very coincidental and convenient moments, characters make decisions and do things that just seem totally inappropriate for that person and everything just goes a step too far. It still has it's moments, but it's definitely seasons 1-3 to watch.
