Tisara I just finished reading through some of the user comments and I was kind of shocked. I barely caught the show when it was "1-800-Missing" (even though I *love* shows like this) because I couldn't stand how it all played out. I don't know if it was Gloria Reuben, or how she interacted with everyone else, but it was unbearable. This is not to say that Reuben is bad at what she does. Although I can't think of anything off the top of my head, I know I have seen her in one or two other things and enjoyed it. But in this show - no.When I heard about the changes, I thought I would give it another shot - and I was HOOKED. I love Vivica, I love her interactions with Caterina and Mark. I was so happy to see Mark back in action (I used to watch him on All My Children) and I was just thrilled with the whole package. The only time I missed a show is if I made an error setting the VCR or if I was traveling.I just finished watching the 2nd season finale and I'm busting at the seams because I can't believe I have to wait for a whole new season.I can't understand why anyone thought differently.Just my 2 cents worth.
dec31_1959 I watched a few episodes of the second season and I have to say I miss our Canadian, Gloria Reuben A LOT. And what the heck did they do to Jess' hair?? Come ON !!! The character of Jess seems to have grown up and away from us in one season, I miss the old Jess ! Vivica Fox is okay, but she just doesn't have the elan, or the edge that Gloria Reuben brought to the show so I stopped watching. Bring back the old cast !! We miss them !! What the heck happened to Jess' family and Sonny, and the rest of the cast? We loved Sonny !! It was a nice thought to give Jess her own show but I think she needs the chemistry that the rest of the cast brought to "1-800-Missing". "Missing" is like a really bad spin off of "1-800-Missing". It was a nice try, but REWIND and try again !!!
blanche-2 I really enjoyed both this series and Wild Card when they debuted last year. Both series were completely revamped for their second seasons. While I don't feel Wild Card has suffered that much for the changes, I am very disappointed in what they've done to Missing, aka 1-800-Missing (poor show, it didn't even get to keep its title). For some reason, probably just chemistry, the teaming of Caterina Scorsone and Gloria Reuben worked better than does Scorsone and Viveca Fox. The idea this year, apparently, was to make the series more intense, with Scorsone's character becoming FBI. Gone are her family and all the things that gave this series a lighter touch. Also, the visions seem less integral to the story lines. I think my biggest gripe is the theme song is gone. I just loved the old one "This dream is real...take a look around..." It had a more lyrical quality - but then, so did the show.
spam-free I think it says a lot about a show when over half the principal cast is changed, plus the title of the show (changed to "Missing").Now with Gloria Reuben (as Brooke Haslett), Justina Machado (as Sunny Estrada), and Dean McDermott (as Alan Coyle) gone, I really don't think Caterina Scorsone (as Jess Mastriani) can hold the show together. How in the world can three quarters of the main cast be just nixed like that? Something more than people just "moving on" to better things is going on, I think.Yeah, Reuben's character can be written off easily based on the season one finale, but dropping Machado and McDermott like lead balloons is very sketchy. Even the storyline for Reuben was a stretch since there was a sub-plot pertaining to her personal life (ie. Rick Fox guest-starring) that was developing.I enjoyed season one immensely because the acting was believable, the chemistry was there, and the writing/directing was top-notch. I'll give season two a chance with new-comers Vivica A. Fox and the rest, but when there are major changes to an already quality cast, usually it's not for the better. We shall see.
