jts1412 We discovered this series before the movie. I'm glad certain things were changed for the TV show(Tess the reason for Jack's demise). We were hooked and couldn't wait for the next disc. Love seeing strong women who prevail through trial and error. We were not sure we would want to continue after Claire's accident, but very glad we did. Cast leaves and new characters appear. In the US this would be a death knell for the show. But,McLeods survives. Stevie becomes a pivotal character. Through the seasons the main theme is how difficult life can be living off the land. The scenery is gorgeous making you wish you could be there. Having friends in the industry in Losangeles,I know how difficult it is to keep viewers coming back season after season. The writers do a pretty good job of this. Character development is also good. It's sad to see main characters exit, but new ones soon become ingrained in the storyline. We only wish the show would have had a couple more seasons to fully play out everyones story lines. Maybe a new Drovers' Run will appear w/ Xander and Charlotte and Jodi's kid being the newest characters running the operation. Stevie later in life as a prospective granny? Too bad Nick and Tess never reappeared later in the series, but was Glad to see Meg and Jodi. Watch the movie, then get the entire series. It will be well worth it. You don't have to cover your kid's eyes/ears. Or blush if you're grandmothers watching. NO F-BOMBS or other cussing that's so prevalent in US TV these days(Jersey UG! Shore and the like). Our biggest sadness was watching the last show and knowing Drovers' has ridden into the sunset. SIDE NOTE: Check out Lisa Chappell's and Abi Tucker's music.Good stuff.
barrydavis OK, I'm a man that sometimes watches female-centric programming. Mostly because I like to understand the opposite sex, which I love. And, the women on this show are very attractive. But, like most hetero men, don't always understand what's in their heads. So, I thought I could learn a few things while watching this series from down under. Understandably, and based on all the other feedback from this series, it has been given high marks for story, character development, setting, landscape, actor performance, and everything else. All well-deserved. However, I was especially surprised and amazed at a male-centric episode in Season 5, episode 31, titled "Body and Soul" near the end of the season. I want to recognize Fin Edquist as the writer (I looked it up on IMDb.com) It was the best episode I had seen so far. I won't spoil it, but it was just amazing to see what the men of the story could do. They came through for their women, and brothers, and best friends in spades. Just the kind of heart wrenching story even a guy can appreciate. Keep it coming.
dee_healey "McLeod's Daughters" just keeps getting better and better. The plot intensifies and the characters are developed more. As the audience you are able to feel a connection with these women who work hard. This show is unlike many others, it is set in the Australian outback and follows the lives of Aussie women who live and work on a farm (Drover's Run) who do the work themselves. "Mcleod's Daughter's" also shows the lives of the farmers which surround Tess and Claire, Alex and Nik. One of the main qualities this show has is that is it unique. It is unlike many other shows which are based around criminal activities and the legal system e.g. CSI, NCIS, LAO. The actors are fantastic in their roles. Bridie Carter (Tess) and Lisa Chapel (Claire) excel in the role of their characters. This fabulous acting is supported by Aaron Jeffery (Alex), Myles Pollard (Nick)and Rachael Carpani (Jodi) This is a very compelling show which inspires everyone.
twin_soul00 Hi, I'm watching ML and I like it very much... but when I look at the IMDb.com I see that Tess is out from it 2005 and also Nick, what will happen...I really hope that the show isn't ending... It's a really good show... but i will miss Tess and Nick, I like when they talk an jokes with each other... and every one else how is leaving, like Meg and Becky... but I won't miss Liz Ryan... she's an evil thing... ;-)Here in Sweden we are waiting for Clariese baby to come... But why will Peter have the baby... I thought that he didn't know about it...
