The people of Hastinapur are attacked by Rakshasas. Bhishma comes to save the people. Later Shantanu comes to know from Ganga that Bhishma is his son and accepts him.

At Ambadevi's Swayamvar Sabha, Bhishma defeats Raja Salva, who has been chosen by the princess as her future husband. Ambadevi feels devastated when Salva refuses to marry her after his defeat. She accuses Bhishma of humiliating her and demands that he marry her!

Ambalika and Ambika mourn the demise of Vichitravirya. Both give birth to sons and Satyavati names them Drithrashtra and Pandu. Ambika feels dejected because her son, Dhrithrashtra is blind. Later, Amba Devi seeks justice from Parashuram.

Parashuram challenges Bhishma to a fight. But Lord Shiva appears and stops them. To take revenge on Bhishma, Ambadevi is reborn as Shikandini, the daughter of King Drupad. Bhishma wishes to get Gandhari, the princess of Gandharadesham, married to Dhrithrashtra.

Subala agrees to get Gandhari married to blind Dritrashtara. Shakuni opposes this proposal. Meanwhile, at Hastinapur, Dritrashtra rejoices when he learns that he will be crowned king after his marriage to Gandhari.
