John Soprano
I can't understand why this show was canceled. The script was good, the acting was superb and the plots and sub-plots kept me on the edge of my seat. They basically took, 'Casino', and turned it into a television series. Don't get me wrong, I love 'The Sopranos', but the first 2 seasons of 'Magic City' was every bit as good as 'The Sopranos', and somehow the Sopranos got 6 seasons and this, only 2. I feel like I've been robbed. I supposed the show just never really caught on, like beta-max being bested by VHS, even though it was a better technology. Who knows.

I happened to come across this show while looking for a rating on Magic Mike. Needless to say, I decided to give the pilot a go and immediately fell in love with this period piece. The acting is on point, the clothing and use of cars of the period grabbed my attention. The script is well written with all the characters well developed and the casting brilliant. You are swept up in the building of the story to see if good and conflicted will triumph over bad and evil in each of the characters. I do believe that this show had a season 3 and 4 in it and I would have offered my services. Very sad to see it cancelled surely another channel like HBO could pick it up.

This show is one of the best shows i've ever seen, right now i only watch 2 shows dexter and this one. I started watching it because of the lead actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan i've always loved his acting, so i started watching it and it was very easy to get obsessed with it. Now I don't understand how 7.1 on IMDb almost 5/5 in almost all episodes of starz is low rated!! How can they cancel this show so fast? a lot of people like me love this show and its one of the best shows out. Canceling it its a really bad mistake they are making, they should try changing the schedule or something not canceling it! I'm really disappointed with that WRONG decision STARZ made. Please starz change your minds! I'm sure you are going to lose a lot of viewers if you do it.

As I mentioned, I love the story as well as the characters but the writers need to take better care with the details. One thing I really admire about the Mad Men team over at AMC is that the show-runner, Matthew Wiener, is seriously obsessive about making sure all the details are correct. They even go as far as making sure something seemingly minor like the mention of a restaurant is consistent with the time being represented by that particular place in the story arc. As an example of just this type of gaff - season 1 episode 8 - the scene where Klien (DA) is talking with Ike in jail. Ike confronts Klein as to coerced testimony, fabricated evidence, etc. to which Klein responds "I've sent men to the gas chamber for less". Well the issue is this - up until 1998, electrocution was the only method used in FL when the voters approved the use of lethal injections. And besides, FL has never used the gas chamber because for many decades, the enlightened people of FL simply loved "Old Sparky" - their affectionate nickname for the electric chair. There are a few others here and there and while none of these is egregious or damaging to the storyline, these little details do add a nice fine polish to the production as whole. I rate the show a 9 but if they were to fix these peccadilloes, I place this at a 10 no problem.
