You know where, part of the difference between adult content and kids content,is that in adult content, not everything is explicit.
There are some things that are in the background, not everything said outright, not everything is expressed the moment it is thought. This anime is shallow, it is surface level, **no subtlety**. The characters are annoying and uninspiring. I prayed to god that the producers would have enough balls for the corpsewhisperers to eat the main character outright in episodes 4-5. All the dialogues are mediocre to bad. Every scenes that the producers tried to make were awfully done. Instead of talking so much, why dont you give a stray look? Instead of emphasizing unnecessarily the (uninspiring) maliciousness of Ozen, they could have made it much more subtle and simpler, making the effect much bigger that way.The fact that it has some stray sparks of blood now and then does not make this anime for adults. The producers do not think any more of their viewers than being teens. Avoid at all costs.

This anime starts off as a semi-compelling story about a young girl that want to explore a cave system known as The Abyss. During one exploration day she finds a boy who looks human but isn't. She names him Reg and together the go on an adventure to discover the abyss.
So far so good, it it's a story with a mystery and lots of lore. It is drawn in a cute style and lulles you in to a false sense of security thinking that nothing bad can happen in an anime this adorable. But you would be so wrong to think that. The deeper our main characters go in the abyss, the darker the show gets. Up to the finale where you feel utterly disguited by what humans can do to others.
A very interesting anime clearly made for adults, this is nothing you leave on for your kids, and I strongly urge people to keep a close look at the recomended guidelines for viewing. The main bother about this anime is that it is slow as dirt. Many of the episodes recap big chunks of the previous episode. Given that an episode is about 20 minutes, wasting 5 or more of those on recaps looses you 25% or more of the runtime. At first I thoughts this was done to pad the runtime in lack of substance to fill 13 episodes, but the show finales without an ending and with more unsolved plotlines than solved ones.

This show went from one I was intending to skip to my favorite this season. When you look at the initial picture for the anime it looks like it is made for children due to the art style. After hearing that this is not a kids show I thought that I'd give it a try and it really is an interesting even though sometimes cruel anime where especially at the end of this seasons you might want to have some tissue in range to wipe away tears. The premise is that there is an abyss on a specific island and adventurers will go into the abyss to get treasure. It sounds like a typical dungeon crawler show at first glance. However there is a twist. The deeper you go, the harder it will hit your body when you return to the higher layers and town. It starts with possibly throwing up and goes till death/loss of once humanity. For the latter there are no specifics what this exactly means. So you go in and could get great loot, but the price might be your live. The story centers around a young girl that enters the abyss with a specific goal in mind and is accompanied by robot that also looks like a kid and was coming from the Abyss. We have a slow start that introduces the main as well as various other characters and hints on what happens with you in the abyss. Halfway through the show it will pick up though and is not suited for children at all anymore. There is a lot of mental and physical pain put on the characters and we always have to remind ourselves that these two behave like and are children. So for some this will be hard to watch. In addition it will show the painful results of injuries and doesn't hide anything. Still the show manages to put in lighter moments with humor as well.It is overall well written and I think the pacing of the show is fine even with the slow start, because when it goes dark it hits you even harder with it.I'd highly recommend it. However I give it an 8/10 because the story is unfinished and I'd preferred the art style to be a bit more adult. If you like the art style overall you could take it as a 9/10.Btw. the soundtrack for this show is amazing.

This is an incredible series I have ever watched. Riko a young girl explorer who is on a quest to find her mother deep within the chasms of the abyss which dwells beneath a village. Alongside her is a sophisticated robot named Reg. An automaton designed to protect Riko at all costs during their descent into another world that harbours strange creatures of such violence, and merciless fortitude that it takes Reg to fend them off using his ultra hyper weapon fist that can take out an entire mountain face with one blast. As they move deeper into the abyss's bowels the air quality starts to become more poisonous than the previous layer, but Riko's determination doesn't allow her to stop in attaining the truth about her mother. For the most part this story changes all of the time, which is good because the viewer wants to experience every layer as Riko does. With wonderful vast landscapes along with continuous dangers that lurk around every corner it's a wonder that both of them do not turn back, although they cannot since they had passed the second layer. Since Riko is a red whistle explorer it is all the more desired to move on so she can become what is known as a White whistle explorer much like her own mother. Yet there is also a dangerous being named Ozen who is also a white whistle but a very frightening person up close. If Riko and Reg want to continue they must abide by the rules set forth by Ozen herself otherwise be damned in the pits of the abyss for all time. The series captivates, awes the viewer in so many ways that the next story plot will assuredly surprise fans all over the world. Made in Abyss is by far the most original, fresh, and wild thrill ride of 2017. There are many more episodes to come, and I can safely say that with this incredible feat of animation you will not be disappointed. It is fun for ages of 13 and over. Highly recommended on all accounts of such a glorious series such as this one.
