This is a fun show about secret agent MacGyver, who has a vast knowledge of science and is quite the handyman. He is able to make use of any mundane materials around him to create solutions to the problems he faces while out in the field. This show is full of action and adventures from start to finish - great acting and suspenseful stories. I especially like seeing MacGyver using his unorthodox scientific measures in getting himself out of desperate situations or helping him solve issues he faces. Forget the usual conventional action stuff like weapons and firearms - this show uses anything from tools to bubblegum. This is just the perfect kind of action TV show that is not over-the-top or overly violent, but can still attract many viewers with its good guy vs. bad guy elements and unique case-solving techniques.Grade A

MacGyver was James Bond in the USA ,if he was a boy scout and he could make his gadgets on the fly. In general the series follow Angus (yes that is his true name) MacGyver a secret agent who is send to stop issues, save people and you know spy stuff. But he has some differences with the majority of the other spies around the world, he dislikes guns( you and Bats, my man) and he at times stumbles in to problems that he could just let them be ,but he tries to find solutions anyway. That was the essence of MacGyver, any problem has at least one solution and if you give it the time ,you can find it out. One other thing, that made this hero stand out of his co-workers was that he could made anything from anything, like :Bamboo, wire ,dark tape (of course) and his trusted Swiss army knife and you get an plane! Wow! Now does anything it showed really happened ,well not anything and not so easy but it still amazes me how realistic the design were and I am sure that the producers and actors and actress on set were enjoy the experience. The last part that makes in my point of view MacGyver ,apart no doubt of his ingenuity, was his kindness, simple needs and he really wanted anyone to be happy with his solutions ,if both parties had a point! This is big of the series took place in the eighties the period when in USA the norm was "be part of the crowd", "Noone wants you as you" , "Make a profit no matter the cost". In short the Reagan era, during which the economy bombed and markets became the force that we know ,so to have a character who doesn't believe in assimilation of anybody to one single plan and that capitalism is perfect ,was a big deal! His message was there is room for all, no one is 100% right or wrong and if you fall doesn't mean you are a loser, although they were episodes and characters with this story lines too. Whatever you can not be original every time. The greatest part is that the series made some episodes that openly criticized the Cold War ,who was close to get warm in the eighties and that no one really wants to get there from both sides, apart from some individuals who had power from this fear of War. For me those were the best episodes and showed that the big message of the show was "Stop this madness ,before is too late". So when this period actually ended the series followed soon after, but the last two seasons (1991 and 1992) weren't worse than the previous five rather showed Mac and his friends work to repair the issues that, this period left of the new generations and to those who knew that for all their life try to give them hope for "There is life after that, nothing its over".The last messages really we should remember for nowadays we hear about the end of the world as we know it ,but guys a world also ended between of 1989 and 1991 and we still live ,so there is a tomorrow, but who is going to be is up to us.Now is the series perfect , well no it is at times dated , the effects look chip and some of the stories can't be understood unless you have a general understand of the world during that period. So if you want to enjoy it to 100% you should read some history in Wikipedia and suffer some stunts that are clearly fake, for we talk about a television series in the '80 not in the twenty first century so there are things that today are better. Whoever is still enjoyable! In general still good ,you will have fun and if you over thirty show it to your kids, if they are over ten.

I judge movies/TV shows by how much they entertain me. Macgyver is a series that thoroughly entertains me even after all these years. Richard Dean Anderson appears to me to be a wholesome and genuine person just like his character in this show. This show is a wonderful escape from reality which I need. I know that the things MacGyver does are largely unrealistic. You need to approach this show as an escape from reality and enjoy the ride. This is pure and simple fun and is not meant to be technically correct or plausible. This is just pure fun and feel good TV. Why should we always seek to attain a realistic view of the world? Hang on and enjoy the fun.

Although I am only 28 years old, this 1980s show brings wonderful memories. I remember back in high school during the 1990s I was captivated by the this MacGyver character, his battles against arch enemy Murdock, and I was wishing there were many more shows like this, even today. This show was intelligent, creative, non-violent even though it had fair amount of fights, but it wasn't about killing a whole bunch of people like many shows today have stories that evolve in that direction.I was fortunate enough to buy all seven seasons of MacGyver and even today I enjoy watching them. Richard Dean Anderson did a great job with the portrayal of this somewhat legendary character.
