Luther as a series is quite incredible, the breakneck speed in which it unfolds somehow manages to get so much across to its audience most of if not all of which is relevant at a later date. Despite some of the fantastical character choices and archetypes the short series are thrilling and uniquely grounded under the London estates. With loveable characters, shock twists and well crafted villains Luther is a fine series

In general this show is great, really enjoyed it. But too often i couldn't believe how characters acted/reacted or how the police worked.
You bring the girlfriend of a probably murdered guy to his house where the murderer (her husband) is still around and don't keep an eye on her and hold her back when she's going upstairs where she will find her lovers corpse (which makes her grab the weapon, a hammer and kill the husband right in front of lots of police officers)?
A guy is jumping on several cars, dropping his motorcycle on the floor in an entrance, attacking several people in a car in the middle of a traffic jam and in all cases, noone really cares? noone even takes a video with his smart phone or anything like that or calls for help?
there is obviosly some danger in your house/someone hunts you and you hide in the closet while you could flee to the outside or you manage to leave the house but instead of running away you hide in the next building?
you are hunted by some dangerous people who know your hiding place and you decide to go to your mums house and stay there (allthough these guys know where she lives)?
you know you are hunted but open the front door without peeking through the door Viewer?.
you confronct heavily armed dangerous people without a gun?
And of course very often Luther could have tried to explain things or tell people about a Situation and he didn't even when it got himself into more trouble or false accusations.
and more and more and more...

2/2/18. Finished the 4 seasons that were available. I really liked this psychological crime thriller with Elba as the brilliant detective that can solve serious crimes despite his own mental health issues. Over the course of 16 episodes, Luther suffers professional betrayal and personal loss yet still manages to catch the criminal. Good screenwriting, interesting serial criminals and Luther's passionate sleuthing make this a must-see series. Luther can probably use a good backstory to explain why he has anger management issues.

I took quite a liking into the show after episode 1. Luther seemed like a real interesting character. The type of guy who doesn't give an ef, just does things in his own way. The words "my man" were used when I watched that door breaking rage scene. Soon after the downhill started. The writing became very typical and predictable. Towards the end of season 1 everything started to seem generic. Basically every bit of writing was an overused crime trope done in the least impressive manner. And the main focus of the show was now completely on relationship drama. At this point I realized the target audience was the same as Holby City hospital - Older and middle-aged women. I dropped the series after season 1 finale which was basically a "not this sh!t again" experience for me. It's rather ridiculous how fast the series started dragging and ran out of content related to its genre.
