Solicitor SHING WAI-SHUN has turned a barrister. He and his family members go to Macau to celebrate. SHUN is a well-planned person, while his mother, LEUNG KWAI-FUN, and younger brother, WAI-YIP, are good at stretching their money. Feeling a bit tired with the program-packed itinerary set by his family members, SHUN decides to leave them for a while. YIP reads his mind and joins him. The brothers decide to watch a pole dance show. To their surprise, they see their parents in the theater. FUN is an art-lover. So when she expresses that she would like to learn pole dancing, her husband, LAP-YAN, supports her readily. SHUN learns accidentally that pole dancer HUNG LONG-KIU has been blackmailed. He follows her. KIU’s former boyfriend, PO YING-TAT, has taken naked photos of her without her knowing it. She tries to grasp his cell phone but it falls from the rooftop. SHUN picks it up and returns it to her. SHUN helps KIU get rid of TAT.… ...

SHUN has won his first case. YIP wants to throw a celebration for him, but he intends to go to Macau to see KIU. Much to his great disappointment, he cannot find her. When he meets her again, she is promoting for a telecom service provider at a street in Mong Kok, Hong Kong. KIU lives with her friend CHERRY. YIP has an argument with cell phone shop owner KWAN HO-CHING, who accuses him of taking sneaky snapshots. CHING’s landlord, KO WING-TAI, is WING’s father, whose nickname is “King of shops”. TAI asks for a 300% rent increase. SHUN sees CHING reasoning with TAI and how he shows her the door. In fact, TAI is his client. Because of very different opinions they cannot get along with each other. SHUN and KIU are enjoying their first date until she gets a phone call. YIP runs into CHING at the shopping mall again. BIG HEAD, a security guard of the mall, had an injury-on-duty lately.… ...

KIU and TAI have lunch together. WING’s sudden appearance ruins her plan. SHUN knows that TAT has come to Hong Kong. He suspects he is controlling KIU. SHUN goes to TAI’s house to discuss his case. He is invited to join TAI, KIU and WING for lunch. Sitting at the same table, the four have completely different things in mind. YIP takes the initiative to contact BIG HEAD, only to be insulted. CHING believes YIP at last. SHUN has resolved the case. TAI therefore agrees to his request of cutting down CHING’s rent increment. CHING comes across the man who witnesses how BIG HEAD was injured. It turns out his is a staff of WING LAU HAU-FAI. As FAI is a stutterer, he refuses to testify at the insurance company. SHUN has found TAT. He is about to call the police when TAT sees him TAT puts KIU and CHERRY under duress. Fortunately, the police arrive before it is too late. KIU denies TAT is threatening her.… ...

KIU and CHERRY go looking for a flat. A landlord, AUNTIE FOON, likes them a lot and decides to offer them an attractive price. HO KWOK-CHEUNG, TAI’s subordinate, invites KIU to dinner on behalf of TAI. SHUN learns from WING that KIU has been very close to TAI lately. TAI hints to KIU after dinner that he would like to sleep with her. KIU manages to make up an excuse and gets away. Later, she receives a text from the mysterious person again telling her to go to bed with TAI. She rejects the order immediately. CHING and YIP manage to talk BIG HEAD into testify at last. AUNTIE FOON has lived with a married man named MR TSUI for many years. MR TSUI is seriously ill. She wants to visit him, but MRS TSUI forbids her. KIU turns to SHUN for help. He wrongly believes she wants to help AUNTIE FOON solely because AUNTIE FOON has sold her the flat at an affordable price, until she tells him about her story. He changes his mind.… ...

SHUN expresses his love for KIU. She turns him down, though at the bottom of heart she is very pleased. TAI runs into LAM CHUNG-PAU at dinner. PAU is a triad member and TAI has a grudge against him. PAU puts TAI down openly. Although TAI decides to take it all, WING makes things worse. SHUN offers to lend KIU money so that she can pay the down payment for her flat. WING wants to start a business on his own. In order to seek financial support from TAI, he, using PAU’s name, deceives TAI into purchase a shop. TAI runs into KIU on the street. When he asks her to go out with him, she turns him down resolutely. KIU and SHUN run into YAN and FUN at a party. KIU is angry that SHUN does not tell his parent that they are going out with each other. She even makes up her mind not to go any further with him. KIU worries a lot about the down payment. Then she remembers the mysterious person’s promise. She decides to see TAI again.… ...

Somebody has taken photos of KIU and TAI of them in a hotel room. WING gets severely beaten up by PAU’s people. TAI visits him at the hospital, where CHEUNG tells him the whole story. SHUN is still heavy-hearted because of KIU and TAI going to the hotel. FAI refuses to go to speech therapy, but he changes his mind after CHING has talked to him. TAI believes ELDER SHUM, PAU’s mob boss, can help him patch up with PAU but his involvement deepens PAU’s hatred of TAI. WING complains that TAI does not care about him. KIU is anguished that the mysterious person has failed to keep his words and pay her. She avoids TAI. TAI blames himself for wanting to sleep with KIU, who he now suspects is his love daughter. He steals KIU’s DNA sample so as to find out if they really are father and daughter. The sample gets swapped. TAI is so troubled by the possibility of KIU being his daughter that he finally falls ill.… ...

TAI has a heart attack when he learns that his DNA matches KIU’s. CHEUNG invites KIU to TAI’s birthday banquet. Just when she is paranoid about not being able to pay the down payment, the mysterious person text hers again, telling her she will get her money if she attends TAI’s banquet. TAI intends to tell KIU about their “real” relationship before his birthday. In order to disgrace TAI, PAU sends someone to wrongly accuse CHUNG of rape. It turns out that the mysterious person is CHING. Manipulated by a mastermind behind the scene, CHING has been trying to make the public believe TAI has committed incest with his daughter. When KIU tells her she has not slept with TAI in the end, she tells her the mastermind has another plan now. SHUN blames himself for failing to stop TAI from sleeping with KIU. KIU tells him the truth, scolding him for caring only for himself. KIU has gone missing.… ...

WING is hostile to KIU, totally displeased that TAI should recognize KIU to be his daughter. KIU accompanies TAI to make a round to his shops. They are surprised to find that an unscrupulous tenant is subletting his shop. SHUN is treated with scorn and ridicule by KIU when they bump into each other. As a matter of fact, KIU and CHING came to know each other in Macau. KIU agreed to help CHING after her repeated request. YIP has arranged a romantic dating for SHUN and CHING, only to be punished. The unscrupulous tenant drops dead. KIU suspects TAI is involved in it and that he is hiding the evidence of his crime in the safe in his house. YIP and FAI go round to CHING’s. When they arrive, the woman hiding in CHING’s flat is about to escape. CHING tells them she is a neighbor of hers and who suffers from dementia. She draws them away, and then locks the woman up again. TAI wants to start up a business for KIU.… ...

WING catches KIU red-handed as she is opening the safe. He wants to call the police but TAI stops him, blaming himself for failing to fulfill his responsibility as a father. KIU feels guilty. SHUN spares no effort in helping KIU carry out market research, but she treats him as coldly as ever. KIU’s shop opens today. TAI sends his congratulations in person. WING’s charcoal ice cream opens on the same day, but it is forbidden to carry on business. In fact, WING has his own self to blame for trusting people too readily. Now that he is heavily in debt that he has to borrow money around. PAO seizes the opportunity to approach him. SHUN’s classmate STANLEY is running after KIU. She accepts him so as to send SHUN away. TAI has kept a lot stuff from WING’s childhood in the safe. KIU therefore believes he is not as bad as she has thought. KIU, SHUN, CHEEY and STANLEY chill out at a bar. WING frames KIU up by accusing her of possessing drugs.… ...

KIU is charged with drug possession. She cannot help feeling vexed, as all the evidence is against her. WING is unable to repay PAO and so PAO forces him to cheat on insurance money. FAI is given a telling-off for trying to give WING a piece of advice. He then wants to have a word with CHING, but she has to hurry home because something has happened to the woman in her place. TAI has got a lot on his mind because of WING’s moving away and KIU’s lawsuit. SHUN finds a clue at a magazine that he believes will clear KIU’s charge. It happens that the reporter he had a fight with last is holding the clue. The reporter refuses to give him the clue, unless he drinks a bottle of chili oil. SHUN takes up the challenge. KIU’s charge has been cleared. At his wit’s end, WING finally agrees to work with PAO to cheat on insurance money. FAI wants to turn to TAI for help. He gets sacked as a result. KIU has hired a private detective to check PAO out.… ...

FAI would like to make up with WING but WING does not find it necessary. KIU runs into SHUN at a restaurant. He gets a terrible stomachache suddenly and is sent to hospital. KIU learns secretly that he has drunk chili oil because of her. After learning that WING’s motors company has a burglary, TAI helps him repay the interest to PAO, totally ignorant of their scam. KIU and STANLEY run into SHUN and his friends at a bar. A female friend of SHUN’s makes him drink. He has a severe stomachache again. KIU saves him from the embarrassment, after which the lovers are reconciled. YIP finds WING suspicious after looking into the burglary case. He visits FAI for investigation. Out of his expectation, he finds out by chance that FAI is dating CHING. He is upset. CHING has bought FAI a cell phone. She also encourages him to go back to WING. In fact, everything she does, she does it for her mother.… ...

YIP asks FAI to work undercover for him to check WING out. CHING turns him down on behalf of FAI. WING takes FAI to go to where he hid his cars. WING discovers that SHUN and YIP have been following them when they get to Yuen Long. TAI misses WING. He goes to the motors company but WING makes him boil with angry again. TAI would like to invite SHUN’s parents for dinner when he learns that KIU is going out with him. CHING learns from FAI that WING is going to sell his stolen cars. She decides this will be a good opportunity for her to revenge TAI. She asks KIU to take her to the dinner, looking forward to seeing how upset TAI is. CHING informs the police of the location where WING is meeting the buyer. Although WING manages to run away in time, he has become a wanted criminal because YIP has taped his transaction. TAI passes out when he learns that WING is being wanted by the police.… ...

TAI is discharged. SHUN and KIU take him home. WING, holding KIU under duress, attempts to open the safe. TAI knocks him out in the midst of the chaos. FAI cannot hide his puzzlement when CHING proposes a break up. KIU starts working at TAI’s company. CHEUNG and SHUN assist her. WING is not a bit remorseless even though he is sentenced to prison. CHING tells KIU to help her get TAI’s money. KIU refuses to do so. TAI hopes that KIU and SHUN can get married soon. Feeling that things are getting complicated, KIU decides to leave Hong Kong. CHING spots her. On the other hand, SHUN mistakenly believes that KIU is still seeing STANLEY. CHING explains for KIU. YIP tries to patch up CHING and FAI, in doing so, he accidentally exposes his own feelings for her. SHUN begs for KIU’s forgiveness, then suddenly proposes to her. Deeply touched by his sincerity, she accepts his proposal readily.… ...

The drug has slowed TAI’s metabolism. He feels tired and listless. YIP visits FAI. He is looking for a job for FAI, hoping this will ease his sense of guilty. TAI’s health is deteriorating. He would like to retire and pass the business to KIU. This makes her feel very guilty. FAI gives YIP a serious beat-up when he learns that the latter has a crush on CHING. CHING stops him. She also admits to YIP that she does like him, but she needs more time. KIU accuses CHEUNG of betraying the company but he denies her accusation. As CHEUNG has always been loyal to TAI, SHUN believes something must be going on. He suspects KIU intends to frame CHEUNG up so that she can take control of the company. When he digs further into the matter, he discovers CHING is also involved. And according to KIU’s phone bills, she and CHING knew each other before TAI’s birthday. With a view to preventing her from going further, he decides to join TAI’s company.

KIU is seeing CHING. SHUN tails her but CHING discovers him. SHUN and YIP believe KIU and CHING have a secret. By SHUN’s arrangement, CHEUNG resumes his duty. KIU makes some sarcastic remarks on him. SHUN goes up to his rescue. SHUN wants to help KIU with her problems, but she refuses to be candid with him. CHING makes a fool of YIP when she discovers that he is following her again. She wants to go to the law firm to get rid of SHUN, but KIU stops her. TAI makes a will to leave all his money and property to KIU. She claims she would rather have nothing and start a new life with him in a new place. FAI learns about the content of TAI’s will. He and YIP are astonished to find out from some old photos that KWAN YUK-SHEUNG, TAI’s old girlfriend, is CHING’s mother. SHUN originally plans to leave Hong Kong with KIU.… ...

SHUNG and KIU bring SHEUNG to see TAI. Suffering from dementia, she is however very pleased to see TAI again. TAI apologizes to CHING but she does not accept his apology. She even calls the police and then takes SHEUNG away. SHUN suggests stop seeing each other for a while, as he cannot agree with what KIU has been doing recently. In order to make up to TAI, KIU arranges a meeting for he and SHEUNG. They are enjoying each other’s company when SHEUNG suddenly passes away of heart failure. CHING blames TAI and SHUN. TAI is very upset. KIU visits him. By now, TAI sees her as his daughter, and would like to give her all his money. He is found dead the next day. KIU claims that he was killed by CHING, but SHUN can prove that CHING was not around yesterday. CHING retorts by pointing the accusing finger at KIU.

SHUN firmly believes KIU is innocent, but the police say she fails to produce an alibi. Even YIP advices SHUN not to trust KIU. YAN tells SHUN KIU has once asked about the content of YIP’s will. WING, who is now in prison, attends TAI’s funeral. CHING has also come, but only to create troubles. KIU is very sorrowful. CHERRY tells SHUN KIU has been tormented by nightmares recently. He cannot help but become suspicious of KIU again. CHING tries to lure PAO into funding her to fight for TAI’s legacy. She also requests that TAI’s will be ruled invalid, saying that he had been cheated by her false daughter KIU. FAI wishes to be reconciled with CHING but she turns him down, accusing her of using him to revenge TAI. KIU submits fresh evidence in court. SHUN grows even more suspicious of her, so much so that he requests that he be allowed to withdraw from representing her. The couple has a fierce argument because of this.… ...

YIP strongly opposes SHUN marrying KIU. Instead of spending any more effort in the case, SHUN prepares for the wedding wholeheartedly. CHING takes SHEUNG’s ashes back to Macau. SHUN and KIU are also in Macau. CHING and KIU have a verbal fight when they run into each other at a casino. YIP goes all the way to Macau to give CHING some words of consolation and manages to win her heart as well. SHUN’s car has been bugged, leading to the loss of an important piece of exhibit. As CHERRY’s copy has also been stolen, the court rules that TAI’s will is invalid. KIU suspects it is SHUN who has stolen CHERRY’s copy. The lovers have yet another fight, beginning to lose trust for each other. YIP cannot imagine how CHING can feel nothing for what she is doing. The couple ends up in separation. CHING chats with KIU on the rooftop after she has received TAI’s legacy. They both faint after a cup of coffee.… ...

SHUN believes KIU is innocent. WING kicks CHEUNG out of the company as soon as he has taken over the reins. On the other hand, he tries to reach FAI, but he is nowhere to be found. WING refuses to repay CHING’s debt to PAO. YIP suspects that WING is the man behind everything. As he also believes FAI has been helping WING carry out his plot, he decides to find out more from FAI. WING has YIP beaten up so as to teach him a lesson for taping his transaction the other day. PAO’s man saves him. KIU runs away from custody. SHUN sees CHING in FAI’s house but he escapes in the end. KIU listens to SHUN and drops her idea of fleeing Hong Kong. They then get married right away. The couple bumps into some police officers on the street. Only KIU manages to escape. As expected by WING, FAI appears at CHING’s funeral. FAI asks no more than CHING’s ashes. He also tells KIU and SHUN all about the murder.… ...

FAI is hiding on an outlying island. SHUN is at his wit’s end. While he goes looking for fresh evidence, KIU stays in the suburb with the help of CHERRY. WING bribes PAO’s subordinate to frame up PAO. As a result, he is arrested for processing drug. SHUN cannot go to see KIU, as the police are keeping a close watch on him. The police charge SHUN with assisting KIU abscond. Unwilling to see SHUN sacrifice for her, KIU decides to hand herself in. SHUN places an ad on all local papers using CHING’s name so as to lure FAI into showing up. His tactic proves to be successful. FAI looks for SHUN at his law firm, repenting of his sins. Meanwhile, WING rushes to stop FAI from handing himself in to the police. Not feeling a bit sorry for his evil doings, WING beats FAI to a faint so that he can take him to the mainland, where they can live happily for the rest of their lives. In the meantime, SHUN and the police arrive.
