The show has potential, especially if you're into this kind of fare and if the Grey's Anatomy faculty aged out of your interest, but they pay too much attention to the wrong characters and storylines. Britt Robertson's character sucks. She is whiny, bland and forced. I'd like to see Littlejohn's character and storylines take a more prominent role. She is far more interesting and has a better dynamic and chemistry with other characters than Robertson's crybaby. Also, why is the diversity hire never working? Her storylines have more to do with her love life than her job. Why not have the whiny girl date and let the competent, not crying in every other scene, diversity hire actually practicing law? I'll give it another season if the network does, but if it doesn't make some changes for the better I'll go back to Grey's Anatomy. Doctor's are cooler anyway. Also, Hope Davis is awesome, as usual.

Young, good looking people who give speeches about injustice. A lot. Do we have diversity? Yes, we do. Do we have two women in bed together? Yes, we do. Do we have androgynous characters on the witness stand? Yes, we do. Do we have evil white supremacists? Yes, we do. Do we look at the plight of "undocumented" immigrants? Yes, we do. Trite and tiresome. Dick Wolf created the formula for social engineering via legal procedurals, and it's a worn out concept that's increasingly boring and transparent. Please stop.

I gave the pilot a try, not against watching more but not really eager to do so either. Overall it seems like a decent courtroom drama show that has a fair amount of interesting ideas, definitely watchable and fairly enjoyable. But on the other hand, the portrayal of the characters strikes me as just a little bit cheesy and cartoonish rather than nuanced or deeply interesting. Not horrible or anything, but not ideal either, especially since to me, characterization is probably the most important part of a show. Also, I personally thought it was very stupid that a boyfriend and girlfriend were attorneys for opposite sides of a case and honestly thought even for a minute that it might work out just fine. That was probably the hardest thing for me to accept and the most off-putting thing about the pilot. I'm not saying it can't happen, but who would really think that would work? At any rate, it wasn't bad. It just failed to strike me as being anything great either, but that doesn't mean it's not decent. If you feel like watching it, you might as well give it a try.
