cyturnerthebest Everything sucks is an ok series that is really just jumping on the bandwagon of using nostalgia to get more viewers. But in this series, instead of the very popular 70's and 80's the are using the 90's to try to get the same reaction out of you that stranger things does.
BunniiButt The only thing that sucked was how Netflix cancelled the show. Otherwise, this show is phenomenal it was cute, it was strikingly very progressive, it had love, it had hate. It had everything. The only thing it's missing is a second season.
rjbalpuerto This is so excellent and brilliant. And I can't believe why season 2 isn't happening.
randomschmandom A growing-up-and-finding-yourself story. I was born in the late 90's so I can't really say if the show encompasses that era although there were things that really brought me back, such as the old school computer, that awful noise when the computer is trying to connect to the internet, the landlines, the songs, the cd player, etc. I can see many that would be able to relate to the all the characters. Usually tv shows are kinda cliche with representing the jocks, the cheerleaders, but in this show you have the geeks, the nerds, etc. Eventhough some scenes seem draggy but the dialogues are great coz its those in-depth feels that make the show great. The character kate messner, you can't help but feel for her. Her argument with luke oneil after Tori Amos' concert was golden especially, "All that matters is I know." And that is the most important. Knowing, accepting and being happy with who you are. I think that would resonate with a lot of people. Its hard accepting and understanding yourself and watching someone at her age go through that is inspiring if not just amazing. Lukes character is such an epitome of the human population. He thinks he's okay with her being a lesbian because he likes her. He doesn't really accept the fact in the hopes that she'll like him enough to negate that. In the end though, he gets it and accepts it. And seeing him going through that at the age is really wow. Adults, we sometimes forget but kids. emaline addario , her character is somewhat interesting. She loves drama and obviously shows it. Oliver points out that she can't have a genuine conversation (although he was being a dick about it), but obviously we see that her "drama" is some sort of defense mechanism(attention seeking, from oliver?) We see her "truths" when she's with kate and its nice. We watch her struggle through her walls(insecurities or wtv) and love it. I love all her admissions to kate, sydney sweeney did a great job. Then theres Ken Messner, kate's dad, and he is such a good dad. Trying to understand and be there for his daughter. Trying to find his own happiness. There's just so much more about the other characters like Tyler, McQuaid, Leslie but i think ill stop here... Watch it and you won't regret it.
