This truly is the bottom of the barrel as far as sitcoms go. What mindless drivel. So unoriginal, boring, and predictable. It's the same storyline every single episode. Ray the wimpy dopey husband lets his wife walk all over him while Ray's parents barge in (ever heard of locking the door?) and the mother in law criticizes Debra's cooking or gives a backhanded compliment about the house being clean. Meanwhile, the father sits on the chair in front of the TV with his pants unzipped bashing Ray's sons and his own sons Ray and Robert for having homosexual tendencies. Then the mopey giant cop brother Robert comes over and complains about how everyone prefers his brother Raymond. My parents used to watch this on TV Land every night and thank god they stopped. Even King of the Queens which is a very mediocre run of the mill sitcom is comedic gold compared to this steaming pile of horse crap. This has to be the most overrated sitcom of all time along with Friends, Big Bang Theory, and How I Met Your Mother. I'll stick to watching sitcoms like Seinfeld, the Office, and Family Guy.It truly is a wonder to me how this garbage managed to stay on air for 9 years and what's even more mind boggling is how many people actually thought this was funny enough to keep tuning in for 9 years. But then again Americans were stupid enough to elect Reagan, Bush, and Trump president so who am I kidding? Probably the most baffling, disturbing, and annoying part of this show is the cliche dumb doormat husband and the genius housewife who is never satisfied. You sit at home all day while your husband goes to work and makes good money so you have no room to complain. I cannot fathom how she can be so negative all the time.Anyway, if you have half a brain avoid this show at all costs. But if you hate your own life or like femdom then this is the show for you.

This is the best American comedy series ever made. I love the deadpan and sarcastic tone of the scripts. The characters are brilliantly acted and are genuinely believable. The best comedy takes everyday situations and family relationships and exploits them, which ELR does so expertly well. You can tell that the first series doesn't quite reach the heights that the following series' do but it's a new comedy finding its feet. Whoever found the cast of actors did an amazing job because it is too difficult to imagine anyone else acting any of the parts. My favourite character is Robert the New York cop brilliantly played by Brad Garret, but I love all of the characters. ELR is on the same level as Porridge, Rising Damp and Fawlty Towers. Anyone who doesn't find this comedy funny needs help....from Dr Greenberg!!

Spoiler Alert! First off R.I.P. Sawyer Sweeten or Geoffrey Barone This show is the best thing I could remember from my childhood memories. I have always loved how evil some of the characters could be to each other because it reminds me of Family Guy and the Simpsons. My favorite characters are Robert and Frank out of the whole TV show. I really miss this Show because I grew up watching it with my mom. This show really had my feelings each episode it made me laugh and cry at times showing it did it's job on me. I really hated the first season because it just wasn't appealing to me but it sure got better. I really miss shows like these because I haven't seen a good comedy series since the end of this one. Family Guy is getting old and less funny and the simpsons as well. I'm praying that one day a good comedy series comes that could get my attention as much as this series did but I don't think that will ever happen anytime soon! :( Anyway I give this show a 10 out of 10. I really wish I had my childhood back where I could watch this series.

One of the sickest TV shows ever. The character of Marie Barone is a textbook of neuroticism and character disorders and none of the people she victimizes ever confronts her to lasting effect or makes the healthy choice of cutting her out of their life. While the show was often funny when the story involved the other characters, any episode which focused on the behavior of Marie Barone would find its laughs in the near sociopathic behavior of a character so emotionally dangerous to those around her that her character represents a low-point in television writing. Worse, the writers continually found ways to make the other characters accommodate this viciously ill woman, as again and again they would lay themselves out as willing victims of her manipulations. Disturbing television. Laughs at the expense of mental illness. And the show won numerous Grammys. Very disturbing...
