My wife and I limit our TV time to the night as we are winding down from a long day. In reality, the world is filled with drama; who said what to whom, which bill can we pay this month, and maybe I shouldn't eat that last piece of steak since my heart is having a hard time. We tend to watch TV in order to escape reality or at least put our minds at ease for a few moments before we have to deal with the next crisis of the day. Eli Stone is like the perfect girlfriend that becomes the worst wife once married. Feel free to substitute boyfriend/husband at your preference. Season 1 is able to bring you into a world of hope and possibilities. You are able to see an Attorney that is amazing at his job except that his success means innocent people are hurt in the process. Eli soon discovers he has a health condition that could be fatal. Along with this problem comes hallucinations that persuade him to be a better person. All through Season 1 the show brings you along this journey of a man who sets out to change the world while having to deal with his friends and family struggling to accept his condition. All in all the people in the show are decent humans. Eli's main concerns are his health, hallucinations and the case of the week. This is the perfect partner. Your angle girlfriend or boyfriend. Then comes Season 2 where the writers themselves must have suffered from a brain aneurysm, brain damage, or perhaps decided money was more important than good story telling. Either way, all the characters you know and love are no longer the same people that were developed in Season 1. Immediately in Season 2 there is drama and turmoil that would have never happened in Season 1. It's as though the Producers felt there wasn't enough dramatic conflict between the characters so they had to force something that hadn't been developed in the previous season. If I were to sum up each episode and rate Eli Stone, it deserves a 5. However, I'm rating Eli Stone based on the original spirit of the show not what it turned into. If you really enjoyed Season 1 and can't wait to binge watch Season 2, I highly recommend you take a moment to reflect on what Season 2 would be like if all the characters were like Matt Dowd but worse and Matt Dowd became the nicest one. If this turns your stomach then skip Season 2.

There have been many wonderful television shows dealing with transpersonal themes over the years, including "The Twilight Zone" (Alternate Realities), "Quantum Leap" (Time Travel), "The X-Files" (Alien Encounters), "Touched by an Angel" (Angels), and "Joan of Arcadia" (Divine Guidance). These types of shows also appear to be growing in number recently with several superb transpersonal television shows showering the television airways within the past few years, including: "Lost" (Metaphysical Realities), "Life" (Zen), "Life on Mars" (Time Travel), "The Event" and "V" (Alien Encounters), "Heroes," "Kyle- XY," "Chuck," "No Ordinary Family," and "Fringe" (Exceptional Human Capacities), "Legend of the Seeker," "Merlin" and "Camelot" (Magic and Alchemy), and "Eli Stone" (Divine Guidance). While all of these shows are excellent transpersonal television journeys, I believe "Eli Stone" must be singled out as one of televisions transpersonal masterpieces. The reason I believe "Eli Stone" deserves this mantle, is that it not only explores a transpersonal topic with great depth, grace, wit, and integrity, it also has the capacity to give the viewing audience a powerful experience of higher and illusive states of being. How often does a TV show induce a deep sense of grace, hope and faith in the face of life's haunting mysteries? This is very rare...so I say, BRAVO to the creators of "Eli Stone!" But I also have to give a big BOO to the network (ABC) who never gave the show the chance it deserved and canceled this gem of television enlightentainment. Luckily we have the first and second season of this gem on DVD.

After watching the first 8 episodes I can't honestly see why this got canceled, although at time very serious then it turns funny. To me serious and dry humor just don't mix very well. You can compare the show Justice to Eli Stone as the similarities are uncanny with humor thrown in for good measure Victor Garber plays the exact same part as he did in Justice but Justice was 10 times better then Eli Stone and yet they both got canceled after 2 seasons. The only reason Eli Stone got a second season was the fact people wanted to see what would happen to him and not about the law Speaking of law, Justice it was too complicated for the simple mind because it required lots of thought, which many viewer don't have after a day of work and a few beers in then. Which is why Eli Stone made it to a second season, its not complicated one bit it's easy to follow. Except Law is very complicated and takes a long long time to fully get a grasp. Even lawyers that have been practicing it for 15 years still fail miserably. So if you want to watch an easy watching easy understanding of law show then this is the show to watch. However you will be truly disappointed if you like using your head wile watching a show then this isn't really for you. That is the reason why Reality TV has done so well the last 8 years or so and should continue to do so because it requires 0 thought

I've never rated a TV show but every now and then, a special one came along that changed my perception of trashy network TV. I didn't watch this show when it was aired, I watched it on the DVD release, and to my own surprise, I finished the complete Season one! To my opinion, first half of the season one is among the best shows I've ever seen came out from Network and Cabled TV. They are even better than most movies I've seen nowadays, and with a better price: free. I liked the show because it has all the qualities are not generally found in a TV show: well written and acted, clever and touching at the same time, and it rings truth and did make one think after watching it. Yes, I noticed it's a little Alley Mcbealish and that lost some of my rating for originality, however, it offered more emotional depth. I can't see this is a show that can be aired for seasons. It's a show with quality, not quantity. I'd rather to see it end soon and remain as one of my favorites, instead of sliding back to the trashy network formula.
