snurgburgler This show is a classic, especially for being a Nickelodeon show. Let's face it, Nick has some great shows (this is one), but Nick can also have some pretty bad ones. This outshines every. Single. One, and in all ways. It's funny and heartfelt. Even coming back to it after many years of having not watched it, it's still funny to me, while other shows I go back to and don't even crack a smile. This show has you laughing 90% of the time, and that's definitely a positive. It doesn't take itself too seriously. It's charming and has a blend of great characters. Even characters that are just side- characters and only appear in one episode are great. Drake is your classic high-school guy who's the most popular there. And Josh is your classic awkward high-schooler. You find them getting into many different situations that span from them working their way through a long line of a roller coaster to them being hunted down by America's Most Wanted Criminal. And that's what makes the show so special. For it's time, it was revolutionary among other Nick shows, and nothing can replicate it. iCarly came close. It had the same mix of characters and humor, but there's just something about these two that makes it more personal. You see their relationship develop over the time of the show. They start out by hating each other, but then, by the end, they're best friends. You also see their personalities develop. Drake becomes much less macho and more down-to-earth and heartfelt, and Jost becomes less awkward and weird. iCarly just didn't seem to replicate that. At the beginning of that show, the main 3 characters were all friends and it just kind of stayed that way, and they didn't really change. And that's also why Drake & Josh is a modern marvel. It's not afraid to make fun of itself, and tiny details that you think may not be important may then become super important in a hilariously funny way. This show is great, and I recommend anyone who hasn't watched it before to go watch it. Even though it's not on Nickelodeon's website anymore, you can find every episode on other websites for free or you can get it off of Amazon.
MegaCynic Well,I must admit this show isn't too bad.I think it is absolutely adorable how Nick tries to make teen shows. But other than that this show is pretty funny. The show follows two step-bothers Drake Parker and Josh Peck, who are complete opposites at school now trying to work together. Its strongest point is that it resurrected "Abott and Costello" type comedies. Believe me sometimes they try a little too hard but this show is pretty good for just about anyone. People of all ages can enjoy it. Another thing is that it isn't predictable. I mean, sometimes you can sense whats going to happen but there are other times where I have been completely taken by surprise. This show is pretty good,Give it a chance if you haven't already.
drybones87 Today i shall review Drake and Josh, a show bashed by people who think shows like Fanboy and Chum Chum and iCarly nowadays are funny. This show is awesome! First let's talk about the characters. There's Drake, a teen singer who is making it big kind of. Josh who moved in with Drake who is spazzy and hilarious. Drake's mom (they never tell her name) Whos is just another character. Walter, who is Josh's dad seems to be spazzy like Josh. Megan, their sister who enjoys torturing them. Helen, Josh's boss who loves Drake. The nerds, Eric and Greg, who are funny because they're nerds. And my favorite, crazy Steve, who is so hilarious, every sentence he says is funny. So yes, this show has a lot of characters. Next we discuss most of the plots. They are always creative, but most revolve around them getting in trouble, or something Megan does. Let's relate that to iCarly, another Dan Schnieder show. All their problems are either because of the web cast, or are not related to it at all. Drake and Josh is a pretty much classic sitcom, but of course Dan Schnieder was stupid and replaced this for iCarly. Apparently he couldn't handle two shows. Then how come he could do Drake and Josh and Zoey 101, or iCarly and Victorious? They stopped making the series in 2006 UNEXPECTEDLY. But they did air an awesome Christmas movie in 2007, but that was where the series stopped. They don't even show reruns anymore! What they need to show iCarly and Spongebob 24/7?! Well Drake and Josh is a great show for all ages.
Clay-Pigeon It's not the worst show on Nickelodeon. That dubious honor goes to "Zoey 101" and "Naked Brothers Band". But this sitcom is still lacking quality in almost every aspect. The two stars (Parker and Nichols) are both graduates of the obnoxious sketch series "The Amanda Show" where they were lead to believe that in order to be funny all you have to do is over-act rather than master real comedic timing (something both boys are seriously lacking). The two leads are constantly out-shined by their supporting cast including Miranda Cosgrove, as their little sister, and Jerry Trainor, as a recurring character who works with Josh. Not surprisingly, both Miranda and Jerry would later star together in "iCarly" which is only slightly better than this show. In terms of writing, this show is completely unoriginal. A common trait amongst all of Dan Schneider's Nickelodeon shows. This man is a true hack. Literally all of his shows are nothing more than stolen "I Love Lucy" scripts reworked for kids. I'm not even trying to be mean. All of these shows regularly feature thinly disguised "Lucy" plots only without the expert staging and set-ups. And very rarely do the writers ever add their own unique spin. It's all dreadfully predictable. Sure, a lot of sitcoms recycle old stories but at least most of them can be forgiven thanks to witty dialogue and good casting. "Drake & Josh" is instead hampered down by crummy dialogue that thinks it's funnier than it actually is. Combine that with smug actors who think they're funnier than they actually are and you've got a bad show. Just to give you an idea of how bad the writing is on this show, I'll describe one episode I watched recently while babysitting (which is the only reason I'm even familiar with this series). The boys get in trouble because Josh is addicted to video games while Drake is addicted to junk food. In one scene Josh nags Drake for being so unhealthy. For those not familiar with the show, Josh is the morbidly obese one (at least when this episode was made) and Drake is the skinny, lanky one. So, yeah, they actually wrote an episode where the big fat kid scolds the skinny guy for eating too much junk. Seriously, they did that. Eventually the boys make a bet on which one of them can go longer without giving into their addiction. Sound familiar? Remember when Lucy bet Ricky that she can go longer without buying a new hat than he can without losing his temper? Same...exact...plot. So if you've never watched television before in your life, you might be amused by this pale imitation of a sitcom. Which is why it's so popular with children. They've haven't seen anything better yet. Others will most likely find the show aggravating.
