cobber-25150 Probably sitting a bit on the fence, if you take away historical facts, religious & moral views then the idea/concept for this series has potential, unfortunately the story line becomes weak and makes you wonder about how the FBI is portrayed. Here we have an agent who is causing trouble and the Ambassador wants removed, you would reckon they might follow his detective/partner whom he is always with. You reckon they might also follow his boss/ friend with benefits, listen to calls, seriously if this was for real he would have been bumped of in the first five minutes an early episode. There is certainly enough there for you to keep watching the entire season, however I thought the last episode was the major let down, looked liked it was thrown together last minute. If season 2 goes ahead there are plenty of loose ends to tidy up or continue the plot.I just don't see that happening...
A_Different_Drummer I am having trouble remembering when I wanted so badly to love a new series.First the star, Jason Issacs, is one of the most under-utilized action heroes in the biz. I saw him a few years ago in a mini-series about politics in Boston and he was brilliant. He held the series together like glue. He has the kind of face that you instantly trust and he has the looks of a guys who gets things done. And seeing Kring's name on the creator credit was also a plus. I am one of those fans of Heroes who still doesn't quite get why a show that was mesmerizing in its first year suddenly lost an entire audience? I still watch old episodes of Heroes even today, they are that good. ("Save the cheerleader, save the world" should be right up there with "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.") So, apologies made, this is not a series I can get my teeth into.In my view it is primarily intended for viewers who love a good crossword puzzle or jigsaw puzzle or any kind of puzzle, because that's all you get from week to week. Puzzle pieces and clues. In script talk, the long arc essentially dominates the short arc and the short arc exists only as a excuse to extend the long arc. There are people who love puzzles that have no answers. I am not one of them. But you might be.
rmarie1951 I loved the final episode! It had me at the edge of my seat the entire hour! I glad the villains got caught and punished. I'm glad Avram saved Red and know she can be free the rest of her life. I'm sorry he's left the Yishuv, but I don't think he's lost his faith completely; maybe just in the people who he lived with for so long because of their acceptance of the false prophets (the Rabbi and Joshua). Also glad that Peter with his Essence friend survived and so did Lynne. My only gripe was they didn't explain what Ambassador Ridell's involvement in the whole thing was. Other than that, I have no complaints and I'm looking forward to DIG coming out on DVD.
jeomo It hasn't lived up to the hype, but that's why they call it hype.It has a reasonably complex and sophisticated plot, so those who had trouble keeping up with the plot of first Mission Impossible, or who got stressed watching 16 Monkeys because its plot wasn't intended to be kept up with, should probably pass on this one.It moves a bit slow, but that gives you time to ponder what just happened, and it picks up speed slowly from episode to episode. I didn't invest any effort in trying to guess what was going to happen next. With that mindset, a few developments took me by mild surprise and one didn't. I would not describe the plot in general as either imaginative or predictable. The acting is respectable. I thought Lauren Ambrose was especially compelling as Debbie. All in all, it's kept me interested. I just watched the 9th episode and am looking forward to the final episode with moderate expectations. Given how many things were left unresolved at the end of the 9th, I'm expecting it will wrap things up too hastily, but perhaps I'll be mildly surprised again.
