EP1 They Bite Jan 03, 2009

Luke Rutherford is your average teenager – until his dead father's best friend, Rupert Galvin, turns up. Galvin has come to tell Luke his secret destiny: he's the real-life great-grandson of Abraham Van Helsing, the vampire hunter in Bram Stoker's Dracula. Luke is set to inherit the family mantle as a warrior against the supernatural entities swarming the earth. Unfortunately, powerful Half-Life, Gladiolus Thrip (Mackenzie Crook) is standing in his way.

EP2 The Whole Enchilada Jan 10, 2009

Six-year-old Madge might think her sister has been ‘taken up to heaven by an angel’ but Galvin suspects otherwise. Everything points to half-life involvement and he thinks it’s the perfect project for Luke. A visit to zombie priest, Father Simeon (guest star Richard Wilson) confirms Galvin’s suspicions. Gilgamel is no angel – he’s a demon, a travesty demon, a Type 9 entity attracted by the odour of sanctity. Can Luke rise to the challenge?

EP3 Saving Grace Jan 17, 2009

Galvin lets his emotions get the better of him when his wife's murderer, Mr Tibbs, arrives in town. Hell-bent on revenge and with no regard for his own safety, Galvin arms himself to the teeth and embarks on what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. The problem is, his thirst for vengeance leads him straight into rat-man's trap, putting more than his own life at risk.

EP4 Suckers Jan 24, 2009

When a bad boy vampire arrives on the scene and Mina starts behaving strangely, Galvin gets suspicious. Mina confesses that Quincey is back. He has come for her – he wants her to give in to her half-blood heritage. Galvin reassures her that he, of all people, understands – but they both know that sentiment has no place in the smiting game. One thing’s for sure - a battle of epic proportions is in the offing…

EP5 Smitten Jan 31, 2009

Mina and Galvin's investigation of a murder lead them to believe that Luke is in danger. Whilst Luke is lying low Mina starts having visions of a winged beast; Galvin and Ruby are concerned that Luke's new love interest is a low life who had taken the form of a beautiful female to trick its prey.

EP6 Nothing Like Nebraska Feb 07, 2009

Luke becomes haunted by dreams about the car crash that killed his father and Galvin's connection to it. A visit to a psychic convinces him his godfather is not the man he seems and, with Gladiolus Thrip back on the scene and showing an unhealthy interest in Luke's past, the vampire-fighting duo look set to be torn apart.

Reviews

zactac Demons is about the descendant of Van Helsing picking up from where his ancestor left off and hunting creatures called Half-Lifes (demons). There are quite a few interesting characters in this show. One of them is a hunter named Galvin that worked with Luke's (the descendant of Van Helsing) father. Now he helps train him to hunt demons just like his father and ancestor did. Also there is a medium named Mina that helps them with finding out where to find demons while also having a secret that you'll learn a few episodes in to the show. Also one of Luke's friends named Ruby helps him hunt demons when he really needs help.So far the show has just started but its very interesting. We start learning about all of their pasts and then there are episodes that are just about them hunting demons. The series is already starting to show some very promising material. Its already gotten interesting so future episodes are definitely going to be fun to watch. This is a show that Charmed, Angel, Buffy, and Supernatural fans will enjoy just about guaranteed.
megcosmene I love Sci-fi, and I love British Sci-fi especially; Dr. Who, Life on Mars,etc.. but this show is horrific. It wasn't the American accent, I actually didn't think it was that bad (doesn't anyone remember Kevin Costner trying to do an English accent in Robin Hood) it was the writing and the 'Monsters'. "I'll smite you", "Luke, you must believe", the fact that they call the monsters 'Freaks' and that they actually had a monster that pooped out of his mouth; are they trying to be a combo of Buffy and South Park? And what the heck was that Bird-Man thing, did anyone else notice that he actually squawked when he died. I realize that everyone is pointing out the Buffy similarities, or the fact that this is really the British mirror image of Buffy, but that would be OK with me if they at least did it some justice. My biggest question, if there are only 6 episodes and the actors have already moved on to other shows, why is BBC-America even showing it? My recommendation - Do not watch this piece of poop
CountVladDracula As an American woman with a visual disorder is there any way this show does NOT offend me?! Seriously! I'm legally blind (that's NOT totally blind. I have optic atrophy. I'm blind in my left eye and I went to school with children of various degrees of visual impairment). Mina is VERY poorly portrayed. Her blindness makes little sense and is never really explained. There's a Braille translation of every book in "the stacks" (cough) Buffy (cough) really? And why did one of her Braile texts have an illustration!? She held her cane wrong for the first few episodes. Then when she started holding the cane right she was cautious about the stairs in the stacks. News flash, geniuses! Blind and visually impaired people learn to MEMORIZE familiar stair cases! Did no one think to research anything?! They don't take slow cautious steps if it's a clean, uncluttered stair case that they are very familiar with! They walk as casually as anyone else or even occasionally run if necessary. Also Mina comments about Rupert's weight in the episode where she temporarily sees. A real blind person can tell a person's body type by the body mass. You can detect this by voice, sound of footsteps, and simple touch. Everything she said of their appearances she saw in that one episode she could have easily learned from touch. The ONLY thing that should have been hidden to her was their exact color of their hair, eyes and skin and she could easily ask about those. Now as an American what is with Rupert's accent?! In episode six he's pretending to be from "Pensylvania" with this heavy Texan accent. Does he not know Pensylvania is on the East coast in the NORTH!? It's closer to New York than anything Southern! Philadelphia is in Pensylvania. That accent made me want to convulse with disgust. And I thought the New York accents in the Doctor Who episode, Dalek's in Manahattan were bad! Finally the plot... Was it intentional that I think Luke's father may have been right?! They kill people and beings just for being different and it looks like most of them just want to survive. Look at what Rupert did to Simion just for possibly one day telling Luke the truth! And by the end of the episode no one cared! They're coming off as heartless, these "heroes" who show no mercy and see no shades of gray and never see their own faults. Also we have a male Buffy, a blind female version of Angel. A wise teacher named Rupert with a dark past from across the Atlantic... Smiting in place of slaying, and even the Stacks. It's a revamped Buffy The vampire Slayer! This is the British revenge for Sancturary (pretty much Americanized Torchwood about a female British immortal running a secret organization that destroys evil 'abnormals' and helps the good).I need to wash this nonsense down with Being Human and The Dresden Files. At least those are well written.
sarah-fiddlesticks I have to take offence with the opinion that British science-fiction writers suck. We do not! What sucks is the financial sectors of the media who wish to make a buck whatever the consequences. Honour, decency, truthfulness and integrity have fled the buildings they occupy. Hence, shows like Demons are born. All other negative (and therefore positive) reviews are correct. This is just awful. The UK media do get it right sometimes. Take Afterlife for instance. Just about perfect. So much can be achieved without constant special effects. But hey! Now that we can do 'em, someone has to keep the nurds in work. Perhaps those responsible for the creation of these misfit shows believe that the intelligentsia out here won't bother to watch anyway. Perhaps they believe that, 'well, its just for kids so who cares?' 'Its just about silly supernatural stuff so why bother putting any originality into it at all?' I cannot, and therefore will not, begin to describe why this program is at the nadir of entertainment. I'm not going to waste the use of my keyboard. Why then am I thankful in the summary? Because, when the pendulum of rubbish begins to swing into the positive, I will be there. Armed to the teeth and bursting with originality. I do not suck. I blow! Nevertheless, the industry are not keen on writers such as myself. The status quo is the preferred condition. I have, as I type, an original story-line with a terror that has never been imagined let alone placed on screen, complete with an original villain, but they may as well be phantoms and demons themselves in as much as the interest the media companies has shown them. Kudos though must be given to those who make a living producing this hell. This waste of time, money, energy and space. Note, I did not include talent because none was needed to make it. Demons is like a skin sore. One just wishes to scratch it. Its a pleasure to scratch! I've watched episode two and I'll probably watch three. Like scratching, I know its bad for me but I'll keep on doing it. And I have such long red nails that I will end up as deformed and as ugly as Demons is. Molly Cutpurse
