The correct title for this TV series? Beyond American stupidity. I cannot believe that a country enslaved by the morbidity of political correctness attitude could produce such a nonsense. The nonsense is already in the initial quote: "Over 68 million Americans leave the safety of our borders every year. If danger strikes, the FBI's International Response Team is called into action". Beside the fact that is more dangerous to travel in most urban areas of the US, the simple idea that if anything happen abroad (i.e. Europe or even Botswana) the local police will leave "carte blanch" to FBI to make it own investigations, fully armed, that's totally nonsense. The whole idea of the TV series is more than offensive. It is ridiculous

SPOILERS for 9th episodeI am a Turk and I live in Turkey. Until I watched the episode which took place in my country I couldn't tell if anything was wrong or not, but really... The shows biggest problem is that it is very offensive, against all the cultures. And it is so not realistic. 'ANTALYA' is one of the most touristic regions in our country, so NO, you wouldn't see anyone playing traditional musical instruments. When you ring the bell, no one opens the door without asking who it is - which brings up the question: If Emir (the boyfriend) wouldn't teach her that then he is not really a Turk and if she knows that, isn't that suspicious. If our bells are not working we call or look out the window. It is so not us. And, we don't have part time jobs so no student is rich enough to go abroad by herself or himself. Besides going abroad is a privilege in every country. No student would actually go abroad and behave like that, get suspended and waste their families money. Or else, if they have violent tendencies they CAN NOT get accepted into an exchange program. YES UNFORTUNATELY we do not pay enough attention to domestic violence BUT there is a nicer way to express that. Instead in the show, they directly jump into conclusions. FYI we never had a major case of human trafficking until now thankfully. Check your own history. Also, US is not the only country with immigrants, you know. Turkey has approximately 80 million people and half of them are not Turks. The criminal might as well have a different ethnic origin. The show with Turkey is the 9th episode but I have watched it as 3rd or at least I tried. I was ably to endure only 10 minutes of it. THIS is my comment for only 10 minutes and I don't think I can take more of it. Please do your research and be reasonable. Don't sell it like you are the perfect country. Because I have seen it, I have lived in. You most definitely are not. Europe has some countries close to perfect. You are not even close to normal. Just like us. We have moral problems you have government. And BTW real Turks take domestic violence seriously. But when you don't reproduce enough, other ethnicities take over and police include them. Just like nowadays happening with Syrians. We are located on a passage of continents. People all around the world come and go. Maybe at the end of episode it shows that the boy was innocent but what happened to understanding "INNOCENT UNTIL Proved GUILTY" (emphasis on the proved). This is not realistic and you do have wonderful TV shows. This one does suck.

I've never really been a fan of any of the more recent crime shows, the CSI's, NCIS's or the Criminal Minds variants, but I thought I'd give the Beyond Borders first show at least a fair chance to showcase maybe something different, but alas, this is just trash. The first foreign and clearly misunderstood country on the "let's scare middle America chopping block" is Thailand. The premise is lame, the story is deplorable and the entire idea of specialised crime fighters all ready to gear up and save your worthless butt whenever you drop off the radar is laughable in the extreme. If anything like this were remotely true, this team would never see their homes ever again as anytime some hapless random U.S citizen feels like going off the beaten track in any foreign land, this crack team would need to be everywhere at once. What Beyond Borders is trying to get us to believe is that all foreign, or at least non-English speaking law enforcement is either all corrupt and/or useless and a visiting American federal team is instantly allowed to take over and call most of the shots. It's also trying to tell us that you're safer simply staying at home, (that's if you're not shot by your own police or accidentally killed by a family member with your own gun), however if you do decide to travel overseas and get captured by a jungle madman or end up organ harvested somewhere, there's a team all ready to suit up and fly in to your rescue. Well it might burst some bubbles for some viewers but unless you're a member of congress, related to one or worth millions of dollars, your life is in local hands and maybe the consulate if they can be bothered. No one is coming to rescue you so just follow the rules and know you're not indestructible and you'll do fine. Beyond Borders is a reprehensible show and based on what I saw, it's also borderline racist in its interpretation of international relations and foreign policy. Granted it's only a TV show but people tend to soak up the nonsense they see whether they realise it or not so I hope to God that this gets pulled before it causes any unnecessary damage.

I think that too many people in this country do not appreciate that they live here. This country has always been made up of immigrants from all over the world. I think the show is interesting, even though it may not always be accurate. Which of them are? But it is good for us to be reminded that when we leave the USA, we do not have the same rights and protection. Gary Sinise is an ardent supporter of our country and military. His bearing is military, not slouched over as if he is ill or ashamed of who he is. This is only the first season, but a good one. How about we give it another chance?
