I'm delighted to see so many glowing reviews of this show. A lot of the focus is on Rachel Bloom, and for good reason. Aside from her great singing, acting, and dancing, she's a real risk taker-not afraid to let the audience see her ugly, crazy side. The entire cast is musically talented, but Donna Lynne Chamblin in particular blew me away with her beautiful, powerful voice.Folks who don't enjoy musicals might not dig this, but it's a shame, because the songs are incredibly funny. The humor goes by at lightning speed sometimes; I wish the lyrics were available. If you DO like musicals, you're gonna love the parody of "Pool" from "The Music Man." Likewise a parody of a song from "Chicago." Very smart song writing, indeed.A very quick joke about Cornell University almost made me spit coffee on my screen. I won't tell you the joke-don't want to spoil it.

This show may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it truly is one of a kind and amazing.
Though musicals would not be the preferred genre for everyone, everyone that loves comedy would enjoy this show.

This hilarious comedy musical continues for a great second season of songs and strange romance. Rebecca Bunch (Rachel Bloom) continues to woo her ex-boyfriend Josh Chan (Vincent Rodriguez III). She left her life behind in New York and traveled to West Covina where she now works as a lawyer with her best friend Paula Proctor (Donna Lynne Champlin) for the law firm run by Darryl Whitefeather (Pete Gardner). The biggest obstacle for Rebecca achieving her dream is Josh's current girlfriend Valencia (Gabrielle Ruiz). The music is great with a series of catchy songs and the humor is wonderful with tons of subtle jokes and pop culture references. The songs range from all sorts of odd topics including period sex and boobs and viewers never know when they will break out into an outrageous song with plenty of fitting puns. Rebecca's affection for Josh is strong but her romantic inclinations bounce around from Greg (Santino Fontana) back to Josh to her new asshole boss Nathaniel Plimpton (Scott Michael Foster). This show gets a bad rap from the reviews I've read and i have to say they all suck. Those who wrote the reviews, I mean. Let's get something abundantly clear: This show is not going to be like Sienfeld, or the Simpsons, or crowded, or the big bang theory. This is a new show so stop trying to compare it to other. The actors in the show(especially Donna Lynne Champlin and Rachel Bloom) are all awesome. This show is simple. This show is about the awkwardness of life and chasing love. This show is about a woman who is confused with her life and wants nothing but happiness in her life. That might sound boring but the show is off the hook. The show (being a musical comedy)is simply put, a joy to watch and the songs...oh my god the songs are the best part. The songs are there to help us convey the emotions of people and the lyrics will send you into a laughing frenzy and season 2 only gets crazier.
