Reviews

Mike-DD I began this show thinking there'd be lots of cougars prowling for young men, but it was actually only about one woman, the naive and exuberant Jules, well-played by Courteney Cox. And even that stopped after about half a season, when she found Grayson, not-so-well played by Josh Hopkins.I expected the show to die off slowly then, but amazingly, it's now halfway through season 5 and I'm still watching. While there is no more 'cougaring', there are other characters that keep the show interesting: her ex-husband Bobby and his couldn't-care-less mode of living, her best friend neighbour Ellie (brilliantly played by Christa Miller) and her killer sense of deadpan humor, and Ellie's husband, the indefatigable and one-man-Bobby-fanclub Andy, also brilliantly played Ian Gomez. And each episode usually contains its own self-contained plot that is generally resolved at the end of 20 minutes. For the most part, those plots are engaging enough to keep you watching, especially when Ellie deploys her unique brand of humor. And one more thing that seems insignificant yet adds interest to the show: those title cards. I'm always anticipating them with the start of each episode.
John Beaumont Don't normally throw my 2 cents in. But this is the worst show I have had the displeasure of watching.Acting is painful, jokes are just painful and awkward - and not funny. Story line(or writers attempt at), music, acting, the lot is pure agony to sit through. In the episode I watched Jules accidentally grab her biological sons penis after seeing him in the shower with his partner. Another character 'Bobby' for some reason can't make connections yet somehow is still alive. Jules was married to this guy, i'm starting to loose grip on reality.Much of the 'humour' feels forced and the show is trying too hard. The cast talking together feels painful. Dialog is at some level of intelligence below anything I have ever witnessed.*Maybe* the show would be perceived differently in it's target audience, but I fail to see how. Show is a complete train wreck. It makes me think that the TV execs just plain hate us.If there is one show that I would say I wish I had never seen this would be it. Please do yourself a favor and choose any other comedy on television.
jennyla-598-568234 This show is quite enjoyable and fun to watch. Its definitely not boring but having goofy moments and some creative dialogues are the interesting part of this show. You cant expect for a 21 minutes television series to be something matured and common all time. After friends, its nice to watch a group of people having some good time in their own ways. Jules is someone who is caring and lovable towards her friends and vice versa. She is a wonderful mother but couldn't save her marriage life. She did find someone she loves and married again, they are fun couple. Having a trustworthy friends around to have a casual conversation with wine is pleasant. Keep rocking
salomejanelidze I used to love Courtney Cox so much, I started watching Cougar Town because of her. But I don't understand what's wrong with her right now. She ruins everything. First, I can't stand watching her botox overused face, it's so scary and artificial. Second, her character is so annoying. It's kinda similar to Monica from Friends, but in Friends the spotlight was on her only for 1/6 of the time and she didn't seem annoying. Now her character is so disgusting that the whole shaw loses sense. I mean no one would marry or be friends with such a bad person. Plus, it's kinda unrealistic - for example, there is so way her son would be even close to normal in real life. Furthermore SHE IS A BAD ACTRESS. Again, it was not that obvious in Friends. The same goes with Josh Hopkins. He is a bad, bad actor, having hard times while trying to control his facial expressions. Overall - first the series seemed fun, the characters were also not that annoying, but soon they underwent a modification and now, after I have finished watching the third season, there is no way I will continue watching it. The worst part of the story? I will never be able to watch Friends with the same feelings I used to before. Courtney Cox ruined everything.
