tingodmusic-725-142007 Im only two episodes in and I will definitely watch to the end because I'm enjoying it, but it does have some big flaws. A previous reviewer nailed it when s/he said this was written like a play, not a movie.. Some scenes are like old "Law & Order SVU" episodes with each character taking turns telling us a bit of information. Very little depth of character; dialogue too rapid-fire. While I agree with the liberal points of view here, I don't like them being presented in such a ham-fisted manner.
ehab2015 The around 6 rating on IMDB for this show might concern many, but after reading the most of bad reviews is based on the political message of the show, which I can say that the creators were not even trying to hide it, but as a Mini Series it's really good and recommended, as pure art, acting and directing I gave it a 7/10, and because I like and support the political message here I gave it the extra one -I'm honest here- :D
mooninaquarius-41712 This series was give a great build-up, with some big names, but it really did not live up to the billing. The actors, for the most part, didn't really seem to know what was going on, and the main character, the detective seemed like a bit of an afterthought, as though her part had been bolted on to try and give coherence to a string on more or less connected political rants. I think they were doing their best, but by the end, some, at least, seemed to be losing the will to live. There were so many political and moralistic messages that they completely confused any semblance of a plot almost out of existence. For example, Billie Piper did her best, but what was her character even there for? Similarly, there were a number of other characters who seemed to be there simply to get some message over, rather than further the plot, such as it was. The MP character was a triumph of sorts, as he was one of the least likeable creations seen in drama for a long time. Physically unappealing, he was whiny and sulky, petulant and flouncy by turns. If this is an accurate example of our MPs, heaven help us. Even though I did watch all of it, I have only a vague idea of what it was meant to be about. Nice photography, though.
chris-chasely It has been a while since I have thoroughly enjoyed a TV series as much as I did Collateral. First off, the acting was superb. Carey Mulligan and Jeany Spark proved to be talented actors and so did Nathaniel who was a joy to watch, not only with his good looks but giving the audience the feel of a true, dashing detective. Secondly, the writing was very good and kept me wanting more without getting bored. In fact, there was so much action, one would find it difficult to move away even for a minute! Yes! Living in North America, I have not had the opportunity or desire to watch TV shows other than the ones filmed here, but I was pleasantly surprised with Collateral and will continue looking for more options. Highly recommended!
