Like a lot of TV drama made in UK, USA and Canada this series becomes increasingly ridiculous as it reaches the climax. In the Black fly season cardinal breaks three cardinal rulesNever lose your phone
Never lose your gun
Never leave the killer unattended Disappointed

Gripping from start to Finnish, with some great "shocking" moments.
The setting and actors make for a great watch

My wife and I liked the plot and the lead actors playing Cardinal and his female assistant, but the frequent torture scenes were too much for us. We gave us near the end of Season 1. We don't recommend this series.

I found "Cardinal" streaming on Hulu and started watching it because I've been a fan of Billy Campbell's ever since he did "The Rocketeer". And what you get here in addition to "Billy" is a crackling good, crime-detective serial killer drama that was WAY better than I expected. It is graphic, and gruesome but don't let that deter you from watching the first season of 6 episodes. I liked the "subplots" involving the family life of both Detectives on the case in addition to the crime story. Billy Campbell is not really a "tough guy" here. He's more of a "beaten down by the world, loads of troubles, tortured soul" kind of guy but he's relentless & brilliant as an investigator. The pairing of these two characters reminded me of the superb Danish crime series "The Bridge". If you enjoy Nordic Noir, crime shows--you will like this series.
