"Boston Legal" is a spin-off ("The Practice"), which has surpassed the parent series. It is definitely the best series of its kind and one of the best series of all time, for me, perhaps even the best. This is one of the strongest tens I've ever given, because it is perfect in every way. The superb cast, led by James Spader and William Shatner, convincingly presents a huge range of different characters and their mutual relationships. The series brings complex characters in insane court processes, with incredible twists. Moving drama and hilarious humor are perfectly balanced at all times. Through crazy and caricatured, but realistic and believable situations, this show opens up a number of serious political and life issues, and at the same time causes laughter and deep self-reflection. Every character will be your favorite and every episode will seem the best one. There's simply no weak point.11/10

Boston Legal has to be the greatest legal drama of all time and set the bar for many legal dramas over the years. We were treated to high quality writing and directing as week after week Boston Legal churned out intense dilemmas and legal battles. We see Alan take on some touchy issues in society as does the firm. Perhaps the stand out aspects of this show is Alan Show (James Spader) and Denny Crane (William Shatner). One plays an unusual but brilliant lawyer while crane is an equally unusual but aged lawyer. The iconic personalities of these two and dynamic is iconic. They are easily the flag bearers of this great show. The supporting cast also hits a few home runs of their own. The only criticisms I have of this great show is the endless new situations and issues they resolved in a single episode. Perhaps they would have benefited by fleshing out the situations. Each episode almost always had the same formula with the same silly judges, Denny's absurdity and Alan ending it by giving a great closing. Modern shows such as Suits have certainly learnt from this and changed their formula. All in all it remains a timeless classic and should not be missed. Alan Shore is perhaps the best on screen lawyer to date with his great companion Denny Crane. The quality, intelligent dialogue, brilliant characters and complexity of Boston Legal make it stand apart and remain a success.

I have spent the past several months watching this series from beginning to end. The first 3 seasons of this show, although politically biased, are very entertaining. The last 2 seasons however, border on annoying. I grew up in a very right wing household where I was constantly being hounded about what my political beliefs needed to be. As a result, I don't like left or right wing agendas when it comes to television shows, especially ones that are supposed to be funny. At first Alan carries the show, and it's hilarious. But by the end, I found myself getting bored during his long liberal speeches and losing concentration to the point where I would miss if he won or lost. Denny is great in the beginning as well, even though the character was only created to make all republicans look like idiots. Something else that really gets to me is that with all of the liberal points to be made, sexism oozes from this series. It's not as bad as Ally McBeal, but the focus is on 2 males instead of an anorexic head in the clouds female, so I didn't suspect it would be.Politics aside, there is no way I could rate this show higher than a 6 because it is majorly lacking when it comes to character continuance. There are at least 5 major characters that are not so much written off, as they just disappear. Fairly large plot holes can be found in different story lines as well. The best thing about this series is Jerry "Hands" Espenson. Out of all of the characters he shows the most range and growth. I also loved any episodes with Betty White portraying spunky Catherine Piper.Just know that you dead end with obnoxious liberal ramblings, but you'll enjoy the scenery before you get there.

So, as med school sometimes gets very repetitive, I have occasioned to keep up with certain television shows--yes, given it up several times...the last time almost for sure...that is until I discovered Boston Legal!I don't know if you've ever seen it, or what your opinion is on it---but show is amazing. It's so damn clever--thoughtful, inspiring, downright hilarious. It's intellectual, it's emotional, hell I don't even get TV guilt for watching it--because it's a higher caliber version of television. It shows what TV shows could aspire to be, if they weren't all forced to be aimed at a public which has an average education at the 8th grade literacy level. (I apologize for framing the statement that way---but after all...Jersey Shore...)Anyways, it's a fantastic legal comedy-drama. The closing arguments from Alan Shore are honestly some of the best speeches on the internet. If you don't believe me, check it out yourself.I liked so many of the episodes. The ones written by David E. Kelly tend to be the best (check online to see writer of each episode before watching)."The Court Supreme" is great, "Juiced" is fantastic for its commentary on TV entertainment, and so many other episodes are really thought provoking. One thing is that the show does have quite a bit of political commentary. Both liberal and conservative are represented in the lead characters, though the show does give a bigger stage to Alan Shore (who is more on the left). Anyways, I was just wondering why no one is talking about this great show, and to point it to your attention if you were unaware.
