EP2 The Lawyer, The Lemur and the Little Listener Dec 15, 2009

Meanwhile, Linda is elated to sell her first children's book -- until someone points out that her lead character, a lemur, is the spitting image of Phil -- and Lem starts a passionate affair with one of the company lawyers, only to find out that his paycheck is being docked for the "billable hours" he's spending with his new girlfriend.

EP3 Battle of the Bulbs Dec 22, 2009

Lem flips out when his mother, a brilliant scientist who has always intimidated him, comes to visit and begins an affair with Dr. Bhamba. Meanwhile, Ted gets miffed when Linda suddenly gets all the credit after she makes a suggestion to improve on his prize project, a light bulb that burns forever.

EP4 It's Nothing Business, It's Just Personal Dec 29, 2009

When Veronica's sexy magician boyfriend Mordor comes to town and she starts slacking off at work big time, Ted tries to interfere in her love life to get her back on track. Meanwhile, Lem is perplexed when he is mysteriously given a bright red lab coat while everyone else has plain white ones... Is someone at Veridian trying to tell him something?

EP5 The Great Repression Jan 01, 2010

When a misunderstanding leads oddball Sheila to falsely accuse both Ted and Linda of sexual harassment, Veronica comes up with a solution to avoid having them punished. She convinces Veridian to classify sexual harassment as a disease so anyone accused of it can't be held responsible. But when the employees get wind of the new rule, things start to get a little crazy in the office.

EP6 Beating a Dead Workforce Jan 05, 2010

After an employee literally drops dead in the midst of Veridian's big push to finish a major project -- a machine that ironically will get people to sleep -- Veronica tries to use the incident as inspiration to make the staff work even harder.

EP8 The Impertence of Communicationizing Jan 12, 2010

When a typo in a memo about inappropriate behavior at Veridian Dynamics orders employees to now engage in offensive language, Ted tries to convince the company to correct the error, but not before the insults start flying. Meanwhile, Veronica is afraid, and guilty. If the company can make such a stupid mistake, can it be that her own promotion is the result of a typo on a memo meant for W. Palmer and not V. Palmer?

EP9 The Long and Winding High Road Jan 12, 2010

Ted insists on taking the high road after his nemesis at work comes up with almost the exact same project that Ted's team has been working on. But Veronica will stop at nothing to get the upper hand, enlisting Linda and even little Rose's help in sabotaging the rival project

EP10 Lust in Translation Jan 19, 2010

EP11 Mess of a Salesman Jan 26, 2010

Ted helps his fast talking brother, Billy, get a job selling lab equipment for one of Veridian's biggest suppliers, but no good deed goes unpunished, as Billy proceeds to sell Veridian more equipment than they could ever use and corrupts Phil and Lem in the process. EP12 It's My Party and I'll Lie If I Want To Aug 17, 2010

Synopsis

Ted, a successful but morally conscious man, runs a research and development department at a morally questionable corporation, Veridian Technologies. No achievement is too far fetched and no invention too unorthodox for Veridian. Ted loves his seemingly perfect job; he loves his superhuman boss, Veronica, and colleagues Lem, Phil and Linda, but he's starting to take a closer look at the company's extremely questionable practices... especially when they try to cryogenically freeze one of Ted's scientists for testing purposes.

Reviews

bbshockwave I make a point to re-watch this show every 2-3 years or so. And I don't do that often. Maybe because I work at an IT company myself, but so much of the absurdity that comes with working for a giant multicorporation is familiar to me (such as the episode with the memo asking for employees to "NOW use offensive language at work", or the company's idea to redecorate personal workspaces). But also because of the quirky and likable characters - Ted, the likable boss obsessed with being a good father and a good boss, Veronica who might be actually a very human-like robot with very low grasp on this thing meatbags call "emotions", rebellious but well-meaning Linda, and bumbling nerdy "mad" scientists Lem and Phil. The show relies a lot on quick cutaways and inserts sarcastic (yet almost eerily realistic) adverts for the non-existing Veridian Dynamics company every now and then. Frankly, there isn't a single episode I could not recommend, the show is that good. I am still sad that it did not last more than two seasons. And the final episodes of the second season are hard to come by as they were only released on DVD, never aired. Give it a watch if you like office comedy - it is non-stop comedy, never a dull moment.
purrlgurrl Which is why it ran only two seasons and became increasingly difficult to find as it was shuttled through days and time slots.A well-written satire of life in a major corporation, it most likely flew miles over the heads of free network (ABC, CBS, NBC) viewers, who prefer the likes of The Bachelor or Batchelorette, The View, Dancing with the Stars, and a host of other TV for Dummies shows.Too bad this wasn't on HBO, Showtime, or even Netflix, the logical home for TV of this caliber. It might have gotten a couple more seasons by finding a more welcoming audience there.Portia de Rossi's best work is in this series - better than in Arrested Development. In fact, the entire cast clearly knows that the scripts are solid gold and delivers performances up to that gold standard. Catch it while it's streaming on Netflix. It's laugh-out-loud comedy for a sophisticated audience.
UETF-agent I found this show a bit weird to watch and the humour was not my cup of tea. I am a big amateur of funny TV shows and I actively look for new ones to watch because everyday life is sad enough. I know there are many sensibilities and different people laugh with different types of humour (I'm not a fan of 2 1/2 men for example, but I can understand that some people watch it).But with B-O-T the humour felt a bit forced and most of the characters don't have enough charisma or personality to carry the show. Portia de Rossi has a funny look but that's all, she looks like a robot but she also plays like one unfortunately. The main character dude is a suit, with nice hair, that's all I remember about him. The show format is a bit strange too, the episodes seem either too short or too long, the real problem being that the situations are not interesting enough or developed enough. The whole thing felt a bit like reading a newspaper comic strip, it made me occasionally chuckle but it was forced.
killer1h Yes it's review time again and no octochicken or itchy chair shall stand in our way!Let me start by saying there has never been a show quite like this, humor is one thing but this is corporate humor on a whole new scale. No one has ever exploited soulless companies quite like this. Ted (the main character) is the head of research and development at Veridan Dynamics, the entire show revolves around him and his group of cohorts who are running or working for the company. Now the thing you must understand about this company is it seems to be a invention company that puts simple everyday items to military applications, so the comedic side is really never-ending and more over the ideas are just off the charts hilarious. Bottom line this show is one of the best I've seen in a good decade DO NOT CANCEL IT!10/10 with a bullet!
