Synopsis

A "contemporary prequel" to the 1960 film Psycho, depicting the life of Norman Bates and his mother Norma prior to the events portrayed in Hitchcock's film, albeit in a different fictional town and in a modern setting. The series begins after the death of Norma's husband, when she purchases a motel located in a coastal Oregon town so she and Norman can start a new life.

nshdnn The series is an imaginative and in-depth retelling of the relationship between norma and norman - as intriguing as it is disconcerting! the cast were extremely well picked and presents an interesting look to the characters; the acting is impeccable! i must say that i was not keen to start on it as it is taking characters from a well known movie and then making it the show's own. but it surprised me how well made and tasteful it is! i am halfway through the second season and i have been on it for only a whole day!
jadenderry As disturbing as it may be, it is one of my favourite shows. The story is amazing and I love it. I completely recommend everyone to see it. So good.
themarvelheroeslildoop Bates Motel is a masterpiece, it pulls you in right from the start and me being someone who hasn't even watched Psycho did not know what to expect. It is beautifully scripted and acted, Vera plays her role of Norma Louise Bates perfectly, she is a beautiful and wonderful mother whom loves Norman more than anything in the world. Freddie Highmore can do no wrong in this show, he play Norman so well, his awkward character, his weird quirks, his insanity, its all just so beautiful to watch. Any and all of you who have watched Psycho, don't look at this as it being a redoing of the original because it will not stay completely faithful to the movies if at all on a lot of subjects, watch this as a complete and utter reimagining and reboot of the films because honestly, I know for a fact the movies cant be nearly as good as this. The way Norman progresses as we watch is just perfect, some people would say he is sick but I would say he is a "Decent" man. Honestly I look at him as a good character with a high moral compass throughout the entire show, he truly is a beautiful and complex character. The relationship between Romero and Norma is fantastic, I never know what to expect going into the next episode, seeing just how much all of the characters develop and change throughout is crazy! The ending to the series is perfect, left me crying, I cannot get over how good this show is, I never thought anything would top 'Breaking Bad' but this ties with it to be honest; It is a perfect 10/10, I don't see how it could have improved upon or done anything better.
manuel-yepez First of all I have to say that Vera Farmiga was flawless in this series, her character was so well delivered. I just loved her, beautiful and always on point. What a woman. Freddie Highmore, wow he was marvelous! This kid really portrayed 'Norman Bates' as this character was meant to be. I am pretty sure Hitchcock would be happy with the result of this adaptation of his magnificent film. I did not rated 10/10 because there were some episodes that were just to fill in, they did not add anything to the main story. I know they have to sell more episodes and seasons, so that's understandable. The final twist was pretty much unexpected so they played that ball real well there. This show is totally worth to watch, I definitely recommended.
